1986 El Camino with 2006 LQ4 and HX55 Turbo... PLEASE HELP

    Vehicle is as follows:

    1986 El Camino
06 GMC 2500 LQ4 with stock PCM and DBW TAC and pedal assembly
    T56 Trans
Front mount Holset HX55 turbocharger (comparable to 76mm)
    80lb tall siemens injectors
corvette fuel filter / regulator setup
    Single Wally 255 pump
    No Intercooler for now
    Wastegate spring set at 8psi
MAP sensor is the 2.5 bar sensor from an 06 Cobalt SS

Originally had a "to remain unnamed" tuner put a base cal in the stock ECM and turn VATS off.. had plans to take it back to him for a tune.. I ended up buying HPTuners and have pulled and accessed the cal.. but I cannot get HP Tuners to allow me to use Real Time Tuning I am having to make changes and reflash..

Is this an issue related to it being an EfiLive cal currently in the ECM? A friend of mine is trying to help me tune it.. In fact he has done most of the work thus far.. but he said perhaps if he had a base tune to start with he could enable the RTT after a reflash..

I could be mistaken, but isn't RTT a function of the enhanced OS options, not a stock one?

I was under the impression that it could be added to one vehicle with the use of 2 more credits?

Ok.. I have fiddled with the tune a bit and it is idling better but the timing is all over the place.. +28 to -3 in the scanner log.. Didn't save one.. going to do a cold start - warmup idle log and post soon..

I can attach the cal and a screen shot of what it looks like when I click the OS button..

Meano stock is the calibration that I pulled from the ECM.. This calibration was loaded by a tuner in Indiana that uses EFI Live

Meano 4 is the last calibration that I loaded.. IT idled and ran much better but there is still alot wrong with it..

HPTuners Error is the screenshot of what the OS dropdown says when I try to load it..

    HPT Error.PNGMeano 4.hptMeano Stock.hpt

The only other option I had was I have my stock 06 GMC Sierra that I pulled the cal to modify for my truck that I drive each day.. I have done some work on it.. and modified to work with my Swap but I wasn't aware that I couldn't load a tune from one truck to another without licensing it again.. Kinda sucks to have to burn so many credits just to fix something that I paid for in the first place..

    Cal 2.hpt

Ok.. So I placed the calibration from my 06 Sierra into the El Camino.. scaled the injector flow tables.. turned off the torque management and thought I had the VATS off.. Car cranked and fired for 10 seconds and now it only cranks.. no fire..

What all is involved in VATS removal.. Anyone care to take a look at the newest cal?

I thought VATS was only fbody or maaaaybe corvette related if I remember right. and I think it controls the fuel pump? anyways... as far as rtt goes... not all cpus support rtt, and sometimes it requires sending in the os to support and see if they can work their magic.. first things first I say is get the stock tune from that ecm.. then work from there.

Ok.. I managed to load the cal from my GMC again after finding some tables that didn't match.. It now runs and doesn't fuel smoke but it does hunt for idle for quite a bit until finally smooths out..

See the attached log and calibration.

    GMC Cal Logger file...hpl

Any clue why it would start hunting for idle like that and then smooth out on it's own?

Ok I played with the cal and still cannot get throttle to work.. I have the calibration that wait4me gave me running in the car and got to drive the car around enough to tell that I had a HUGE oil leak on the rear carrier for the oil seal..

I am fixing that leak this weekend but I need to get a cal that will let me put a few miles on this thing..

Here is a log of what the idle is doing..

M6 does not have the in gear idle tables populated so just start it and let it idle for 5 to 10 minutes and again with the Ac on. The pcm needs to correlate the throttle body and commanded idle speed to get a stable idle. Generally needs done only once after a write entire and not after write calibration.

At first I was.. I am now using a stock 6.0 one bar map..

I cannot get this thing lined out.. I am thinking I might just take it up to the guy who did the initial tune and have him tune it.. I am out of time to f with it and have already had to change the oil twice due to fuel dilution..

This thing is going to be the death of me..

    Robby,

I seem to have made a mistake when purchasing the injectors.. They were in an 80lb box but are actually flow matched 65lber's...

I do have one question. Where did you find values for the Offset/ volts / vac table? I emailed precision turbo (company name enscribed in the injector body) and they sent back values but it was just a voltage vs offset.. No mention of vacuum and the values they sent were only the extreme values..

    Thanks
