    ECU replacement and credits

The ecu in my 2006 Trailblazer SS it giving me fits, and it seems to need replacement.

It's my understanding that I will have to purchase a new license for the new ecu. Is this true, or is there a work around so I don't have to?

    Thanks in advance
    Tony

Yes you will need to relicence the pcm.
It is best to get the new pcm flashed via Tech2 to you current VIN before hand.

It will be set up with a Tech 2 to begin with. If I do that will I not need to re license?

I have replaced pcm's before and programmed them for the original vin with gm software and not had to purchase new credits to tune them.

You likely had the year/model license in that case then.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

No idea then, something magical happened then lol

Our software doesn't license the vin on gm vehicles.
