    Engine failed last weekend

I have an 05 LLY Crew Cab 4x4 dually and my mods should be in my signiture. Last weekend while hauling my airboat to the coast at 65MPH the truck started rolling white smoke and I am talking about 1/4 mile long two lanes wide! When I pulled over the engine was covered with oil from the crank case vent. I removed the oil filler cap and she was blowing white smoke in the air like a train. The tuner I was using was a hand help PPE Standard and I had it set at level 3. It looks like I burned a hole in a piston. I drove the truck home 210 miles and used 4 gallons of oil. I am going to pull the engine and rebuild it but i am done with the PPE tuner. I used HPtuner on my C6 corvette but I have never used it on my Duramax. The truck still runs, should I try and get a scan before I pull it apart?

Oh the airboat weighs 4600# but it has a great deal of air drag.

the truck has stock size tires and a 110 gallon fuel tank in the bed.

When I rebuild it I will be adding a lift pump, new oil pump, new water pump and injectors if needed. I will also replace the drivers side exhaust header with a non restrictive one, new after market down pipe and weld the EGR pipe shut on the back Y pipe.

Where is a good place to get a config file for my truck and a beginners lesson?

Sadly not many diesel guys come on here, from what I've noticed in the short time I have been apart of the HPT community.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

HP Tuners is a great software for tuning diesels. However, while you're building that engine, better check your injectors, specifically the one that burned a whole in the piston. I would be willing to guess that the injector was sticking open dumping a ton of fuel. If they are bad, go ahead and get 45 or 60% over injectors

Way too much fun

Ok here is what i have now.
    2005 crewcab 4x4 3500LT dually 140,000miles LLY 373 gear
    EGR blocked
    PCV bypass
    resonator removed
    MBRP 4" strait
    PPE tunner
    LBZ MP
    Tow Mirrors
    1/4" rear wheel spacers
    PPE FPR
    PPE FPRV
    new transmission
    billet tripple loc converter
    transgo shift kit
    Alto Red clutches

I will be replacing my engine, Trans, computers, wiring, etc with an LBZ. I plan on swapping over all of my LLY modifications except for the 5 speed Trans.

So I need a config file and good tune for an LBZ. I am not looking for a race tune just a good MPG tune that is transmission safe for towing smaller loads like my bay boat or my airboat. 5000-6000#.

    Thank you

Goto HPTuners.com and setup an account to get access to the tune repository. There are several there.

Click here for a good step by step guide.
