    need help swap08 truck engine e38 ecm truck starts for 2 seconds and dies

    i swaped a 2008 ly5 engine and tranny and ECM from the same pic up into a older pic up i flashed the ecm with my vcm suite software and managed to turn engine on ! it will spark up and stay on for 3 seconds and shuts off ... any ideas as to what else needs to be done to the swap or ecm to make this work im losing hair and turning gray by the minute ........ thanks in advance ( fairly new to hp tuner software ) baby steps with it !!!!!

    Have you disabled 2 Vats/starter checks and the corresponding dtcs?
    Posting your file will help.

    disabled vats and starter dont know the steps for the dtcs? would like ur help (baby steps with software) i trying to up load file

    Try setting P1631 to 3 no error reported and go to system and disable starter diag and report back.

    anything else you guys might remove from it ? im not using the original fuel pump going with external pump would this have any affect in the dtc's and MIL

    i have done what you guys have indicated an no success anything else ? !any more ideas

    Next step is more Diagnosis.
    Check to see what is missing/cutting out.
    Fuel pressure or Spark or Injector pulse. (or a combination)
    Also log all Vats ifno to see if it is going into theft mode.

    Add the " current firing cylinder " to your scanner. If it never moves your crank sensor failed , I had this issue when I swapped an lq9 into my 96 like 6 years ago.

    I thought he did when I first looked at file but I guess I looked wrong.

    Set those dtcs to 3 as well.

    You must do a write entire when making changes to the VATS or starter checks.

    guys thanks for all your help and opinions truck has finaly stayed on i followed all the dtc instructions from each of you ....... still strugled for about two days ...and no results ...... i decided to upload a 2008 stock file all over again and started from the begining ..... removed vats ,dtc, starter dig, etc ... and truck fired right up and stayed on .... the only diffrence i notice in the scanner was the MAP was readind 200 in the old diag. ....i have gotten the 2000 oem cluster to work ... the volt,rpm,oil presurre, done, ...still strugling with fuel gauge , eng temp, VSS any ideas remember i swaped all 2008 components into a 2000 pick up !
