    MAF Power limatations vs. restriction?

I read somewhere that Greg Banish said the stock 85mm with a screen MAF is good to about 500BHP without it being a restriction.

Should I use a card style or descreened MAF for 570-600BHP?

Will a stock 85mm MAF with a screen support 570-600BHP? Or should I descreen or go SD?

    Motor is a 6.1 in a 99 f-body.

I wouldn't descreen... It just smooths the airflow to going through the MAF so that it can get a better reading. Some do it and have no issues while other do have issues. A card style is much faster and accurate than the older ones in the housing. If you're thinking about upgrading, go with that.

The stock 85mm MAF is good to 459g/sec @ 12kHz. Actually
less g/sec than the 75mm Camaro / Holden MAF.

The screen costs you at the big end, this is measurable.
Look at your MAP readings with a screened and descreened
piece, if you care to. It's given me no problems, running
an 85mm descreened Delphi truck MAF and a Z06 table.
But people with bent intake tracts can see problems with
    fidelity.

How much HP that 459g/sec gives you depends a lot on
motor efficiency and state of tune.

I have a straight shot from the filter to the TB about 12-14 inches.

Do you get higher Map readings with it descreened? If so what does this tell me?

I m just trying to learn and connect the dots. Thanks.
