    2010 Camaro L99/6L80E Swap Into 1970 Camaro

I have a 2010 Camaro L99/6L80E. Previous Tuner lost the ecu when building the custom wire harness so it will run in my 1970 Camaro. I do not have a VIN from the donor and assume I need the ACDelco 12633238. What does it mean when they sell it with 2nd MPU and without calibrator? Is this something I can do myself with the right hardware and software or best left to a professional tuner? Thanks in advance for the help.

I would suggest finding a computer from that model car with auto to simplify things, of not your going to have to have a computer flashed by a dealer is my understanding...I didn't get one for my L92, and after lots of reading I made sure I got one from another L92 cadillac like mine came from

Verify that your transmission is a 2010 and get a computer the same year (prefrereably from a Camaro 6.2/6L80), if not a dealer can put the correct operating system on it and then you should be able to download a 2010 Camaro 6.2/6L80 tune from the HPTuners repository and flash it to your computer. You will then probably have to delete the VATS/starter checks in order to get it to start and run. I just installed a 6.2/6L80/TVS1900 in a 68 C10. Tell me more about your install. Here's a link to mine:

Thanks for the info Rob. Just got back in town. I took a look at your build thread and am impressed. I really like the radiator close out panel.

I am building a setup identical to yours but just want to get the engine running and have the car move under its own power before disassembly, paint and reassembly. My build link is below.

I found a guy on Ebay and below is his reply. The cost seems excessive although I havent priced a used E38 ECM or contacted the dealer about cost to install the OS. Any advice would be appreciated.

"I can send a new ACDelco E38 that is in the listing with factory flash for 2010 L99/80E camaro for $300.

as for programming changes for the swap, i can offer 2 options.

to disable the VATS only with no other changes would be additional $75 -- you can start the vehicle and subsequently edit other things on your end as you see fit (axle/tires, torque management, codes, spark/fuel maps, etc). or if you prefer i can do a complete tune for $300.

i can use a generic VIN. my only concern is rumors that in some cases 2010+ T43 TCMs don't operate properly if there is a VIN mismatch with the ECM. i haven't had the opportunity to confirm this myself. i suppose you could mail me the T43, but it is inside the transmission and part of the valve body assembly so you would have to pull the VB and mail it to me. which is doable but obviously a pain."
