Why is there a MAF table in a 3 bar custom OS?

I'm looking at a tune from a gen 3 with a 3 bar SD OS and noticed that it still has a MAF table. Why? Does the MAF table do anything?

I've used the MAF on a 3 bar OS in a 2004 GTO.

Seems like some of the earlier OS's ignored it no matter what. My 2000 Camaro was one of them. I've never had a car to use both on a gen3 though cause most go SD to get away from the frequency limitations of the Gen3 PCM's.

From what our head engineer has said in the past the maf was basically taken out of the picture in the earlier LS1 operating systems that have the secondary VE table in stock form, so you might be able to use the maf in some of the newer operating systems the older ones the functionality needed to be removed.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Is this also the case with some of the earlier Vortec truck engines like say a 2000 5.3L?

I would assume so as the earlier vortec's shared the same OSID as most of the F Cars.

I don't want to get into a MAF vs. SD debate, but what makes you want to use the MAF with the custom SD OS?
I usually get everything I need out of the SD. Pretty little variance in AFR even in ambient temperature changes.

Double the resolution if you can keep the MAF. Cover your right eye up with an eye patch and you can still drive to the grocery store but you can see much better with both eyes correct? Similar with the PCM, if you have more data/sources to predict/calculate airflow it will be more accurate and seamless. I'm not saying SD is bad I'm just saying when properly done it'll never be as good as a blended setup. The blended setup has everything a full SD tune has (because it still utilizes it) and everything a MAF tune has.
