    New ecm question

If I have to replace my ecm (2006 corvette), can I install it and load my saved tune or will I have to get the ecm coded with my Vin first?

I'm pretty sure you have to get it coded with the VIN and correct OS before you can do a flash.

Does anyone know if I have to install it or can I just take the ecm? My ecm might be bad and if I have to have it in the car then the car has to be towed to a dealer. I thought I read on a forum that tuners can program the vin instead of a dealer.

It they have a standalone harness, they should be able to do the VIN and write the OS.
