Back to the 3800 Platform, Modded Gs tuning!! (MAF/AFR)

Hello forum! Recently purchased an 02 gs from a friend. Mods are LQ4 Maf, Stage 1 zzp tb, Plog, ZZP Ported Rear, 3in Catless Dp, Stage 4 sc with 3.4, Ported Lim, 42.5's and 104's.

In a week or two when I get the car on the road I will start some maf and afr tuning. It has been over 3+ years in doing this.

Does anyone have a maf table to possibly start from? I know this car has been tuned some but it is hard to tell how much.

Should the maf be linear and not bumpy like this?

What exactly do these afr commands do?

I am supplying the file from the car if someone can take a look at it.

MAF should be a smooth curve, hand smooth it while you are tuning. That spark adder adds spark depending on the afr commanded.

Every MAF curve should be smooth (ideally), sometimes you get little bumps but nothing like that one.

Yeah I would smooth it at least enough so it's a 1:1 function and no higher HZ cell has a value in it lower than the cell to the left of it if that makes sense. The bumps usually make mechanical offset more pronounced which makes the bumps more pronounced. At least in my experience. Add correction, smooth, rinse repeat.

Does anyone have an un touched lq4 maf table I can start with?

Don't some just modify the maf table to get the afr they want? Meaning it would look like the above?

Ideally I want to get my trims +/-3% while not in PE (boost) Thus I would mess with the maf table?

Then after I would need to get my afr's in check. How do I go about doing so?

Last step is timing being added/subtracted to get the cleanest scans.

Recalibrating the maf is the correct way to tune these. And if done correct you end up with a smooth curve.

Table is choppy up to PE, but in PE it's really dancing there. You need a wide band on this thing to go any further with fuel tuning in that area. You can use trims to clean up the table before hitting PE, but I would not do that unless you install a new O2 as well.

When you say recal do you mean load a new untouched maf table?

No, smooth that one out and recalibrate it. Lambda error plotted against the maf table.

Is there a direct link on how to recalibrate it?

I just told you, same as recalibrating the VE. Plotting lambda or AFR error against the MAF table.

I'm sending the car over to a friend to get the radiator support replaced. I figured I would grab an idle scan and pull the actual file from the car as the one I posted before was a few years old (I was told it was untouched, but why not make sure)

I see the ltft's are -11 and the stft's are around 3 at idle.

Can you post your config file? Looks like there are a few things you need to add to your config file to do this right

    AFR Commanded
    Commanded Gear
    MAF hz
Make yourself a PID that will add your LTFT to STFT giving final trim the PCM required to achieve desired AFR. Add the PID to your Table view then make a couple of histo's that plot it against your VE and MAF
    Calculated Cyl Air
Remove "unsupported parameter"'s from your table view

Once you have your new config, scan it again and post it up.... and order a wide band O2 asap

From HP Tuners Main Page, not the Forums, top RT, click on HELP
    Enhanced IO
    Install LC1 Wideband
That will give you your hook up method

Then go through these, too many people, myself included until not that log ago lol, have not been setting up their WB properly. Excellent info from the guys at The Tuning School here:
