    4l80 segment

Have an 08 nnbs silverado with a 5.3, originally had 4l60, now it has a 4l80. Does anyone know if I have to do a segment swap or if even a segment swap can be done on the e38? Do I have to replace the tcm only from a 4l80 nnbs? Or do I need unlimited gen iv trucks credits and flash a 4l80 os in the current pcm? Thanks for the help

A T42 TCM with a 80E OS is required to do it "right"

Express Van trucks came with 80E's behind the LY6. 24243356 is the correct OS number...

    That is a 2009 T42 OS ... his truck is a 2008. The 2008 truck T42 used OS24239927 with 4 speed autos (4L65/70/80).

Doesn't matter what year, used that TCM OS on 06 TBSS 80E conversions to 2010 80E Silverado conversions.

You will sometimes have communication issues between modules with the "mix & match" approach ... better to use the same model year whenever possible ... more than a few threads where folks can't get the gear position indicator, speedometer, or other feature to work - when they stray too far from the original configuration.

These issues may also manifest as odd or inconsistent shifts.

Really ... perhaps I'm just unlucky then.

As an example, if you try to use a 2006 GTO T42 tune (to keep TC locked at 0% TPS) ... it works fine with a 2007 TBSS tune, but won't work with a 2008 TBSS tune (trans won't shift).
