If you have a 2008, you should be able to just plug in later hardware.
Waht does that mean ? Just install a 2010 E38 ECM and a 2010 tune and then just put my VIN number in the new ECM ?

HPT won't allow you to put your 2008 VIN into a 2010 ECM.

I know a while back you could use gm's vis and change the vin withen the ecm giving it a different os. Didn't think you could still do this due to vins needing to match withen all the modules? Is this what your referring to or something else? Now on the reverse side of the equation I would think you could take an ecm out of something that had the table capabilities, relocate pins or use that ecms wiring harness if it was using the same sensors and so on then just plug your VIN and necesary info into it. BUT I imagine there would be more to it than this correct and if doing it this way would you lose your added os system tables? I haven't gotten into the whole swap from this to that stuff much yet other than on older stuff where vins didn't have to match. So was just wondering myself...

OK, I got to thinking about this some more... HP offered vin changing for the older gens and in the help section of hp it still says how to go about changing the vin. Does this not work with the gen4's or is it that this no longer works at all? In other words something that HP dropped?

HPTuners will change the VIN, but only to a valid VIN for that OS, which means you'd be limited to a VIN for the year for the newer PCM.

You can change the VIN in an E38 to something "invalid" if you want to with EFILive...this would let you put your cars VIN into the newer PCM. Also, if you do this BEFORE you license the thing to HPTuners, you should be able to use 2.25 to tune it, you just won't be able to put it towards upgrade credits.

When upgrading to a later E38, you should look into the throttle pedal part numbers for your car, and for the same model car but newer year for the year the ECM will start life as...you may need to change that as well. I'm honestly not sure if the C6 pedals from year to year are compatible.

The part number for the pedal/tps seems to be the same from 2008-2010.

If that is good, that seem to be plug and play ecm, tune and vin

Is that easy for us with an older operating system ?

I don't know if it's that straightforward, but I know it means the pedal and PCM will work together as long as the PCM is flashed with the 2010 Corvette OS by the GM TIS system...this will make sure the TAC module is flashed correctly...a write entire to say a 2010 van or truck E38 with HPTuners will not do this, but GM TIS will.

EFILive can't fix the TAC portion of the PCM either...it has to be done with the GM system. EFILive can fix the VIN for you.

Why the TAC module need to be fixed if it's the same pedal /tps used ?

I'm very much looking forward to hearing how this goes, and if you will have access to more tables.

Michael, obviously we will have access to all the 2010 table. 2010 tune in a 2010 ECM will lead to have almost a 2010 car

Extended maf range, integrator delay, higher injectors flow rate clip ...

Swapping around 08+ should be no issue. You may run into a loss of comms with the EBCM since they changed it in 2010.
