    E38 Fan % vs ECT

Wondering if the column temps will ever be made so we can edit them?

Need fans on at lower temps with 160* stat.

    I searched but no joy.

The columns are hardcoded so no.

    Custom OS has modified labels.

FWIW, you'll make the most power around 210*.

Figures since I swapped in the 160. It's running around 176* at cruise but helped the top end KR. 8-9 psi at 15* on E60 now, no KR. IAT's climbing into the low 100's.

One of the reasons I went to the upgraded OS was for the fan settings.

I thought I knew something about cars, but I cant wrap my head around this thermostat thing. I have a 160, and thought all it did was open sooner, not change anything about operating temperatures. Am I crazy ??

It opens at a lower temp so you get coolant circulation to keep op temps cooler. Once stopped though with out lower fan settings temp rises until the fans come on (at 192* in my case). When moving again it drops back to 175* or so.

I've read the debates on the LS3 as far as if it helps or not, just wanted to try it. It's a 10 min swap.

Dave says peak power is at 210* so since I can't lower the fan turn on points, I'll prob swap back.

Still doesnt make much sense. If your stat opens at 160, or 180, you might stay cooler a few minutes longer, but eventually you will rise to the same temps. I see the same temps after running awhile as I did before the change of stat. Lowering the fans on temps has helped run cooler, but that would be with either stat.

If lowered stat & fan settings didn't lower your operating temperature you need a larger radiator. It should.

Lower fan setting keep it from getting to hot. I'm just saying for me, the stat alone didn't change much.

ls engines don't like being cold. i made the most power at 205-210 ect's vs 180 degree's. fwiw

all else fails. set the lowest temp cell to 50-75% and follow it up with the rest of them like this till it commands 100%

Correct, the Fan Temps and T Stat should be the same spec.
