is it ok to elevate spark advance table as long as no knock occurs?
i have raised timing in cruising area by 9 degrees without a knock,, is that the right way to do it?

when it comes to timing where you want to reach MTBT especially in cruise areas it is best to be on a loaded dyno, yet with the E38/E67 PCM you can not adjust timing on the fly.
Maximum Brake Torgue... timing that provides the most efficiency and burn. The actual torque reported by the dyno will indicate that timing level.

On loaded dyno you simulate a crusing condtion, with load , see how much tourqe ur getting for each rpm range , then increase ur timing to see if u gain much ,,,doing that you will find ur Min spark for best torque
Not having knock does not mean for sure you gain any house power ....
