Is it safe to "fully reflash" an e38 with a different file from the same year?

Can some one tell me if it is safe to "fully flash" an e38 pcm with a different file from another e38 from the same year?

I have read there maybe issues with e38 PCMs if the years don't match!

    Thanks

If it's the same vehicle and year, it's fine. Example... You can write entire a file from a 2007 Corvette into another 2007 Corvette without issue. You can't write a 2010 Corvette file to a 2007 Corvette though.

Perhaps, but I would feel better about viewing the comparison log and applying all the changes to make the tunes the same and then flashing the original car's tune. Just paranoid.

That's how I do it, unless converting auto to manual and vice versa.

Thanks a lot guys. What I have is a 2008 6.0 Commodore. The original tune doesn't give me the option to set up the reverse lockout or VSS pulse per mile. So I have a tune from the same year 6.0 Commodore with these options and I was hoping by doing a full flash it would give me access to these options. Am I one the right track?

    Thanks

That should be, "Am I on the right track?" It's getting late where I am!!!!

Post up both tunes, or maybe ask support to be sure. Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem though.

Cool, I can do that! The file that has Brad written on it is the original one still on the pcm.

Just for my own information and for future reference and if you don't mind can you tell me what you are looking for to check for compatibility?

    Thanks, Brad Bird.

I'd try to research through GM TIS if the OS numbers in both files are definitely valid for that year/model car, then I'd probably try to research through GM Parts that there's no VIN cutoff mid model year requiring a different PN for a service PCM...usually that's enough to cover my bases before a write entire.
