2005 Duramax 10/10 tune Dyno Results

Alright, this is my first Diesel tune, done on my personal vehicle. Dyno was done on a Mustang Dyno.

I am posting this info so others can benefit from the information. None of the numbers are inflated.

    Details:

    -2005 Chevy 2500HD Duramax
    -Stock airbox with K&N filter
-4 inch exhaust with muffler, no DPF

    Tune:

-I went by the tuning tutorial found here in the Diesel tuning section. Roger ramjet and mecanicman are two of the most helpful posters I found.

    -I added 10% more fuel
    -I added 10% more boost
-I modified the injection timing to 50%before TDC/50% after TDC
-Under Engine-Torque management- I increased the torque to max values.

    Seat of the Pants:

-Its a whole different truck now. LOTS more torque in the lower RPM's. On the dyno I could not lock the trans in 4th gear with VCM controls because we had to plug the autotap off of the dyno into the DLC in order to get a RPM reading. If you could lock it in gear and read from say 1500rpm and up, the torque would be way higher.

    Stock settings-

The truck made 268hp/478tq and ran a [email protected] in the 1/4 mile

    10/10 tune-

The truck made 299hp/586tq and ran a [email protected] in the 1/4 mile

During the 1/4 mile tests the weight of the truck was put in at 6900lbs

Dyno is located in west Georgia.

I have attached pictures of the 2 dyno graphs.

    Enjoy!

so 30hp increase? Thats minimal compared to most diesel tuners i think, most are 80-140hp increases?

that is what they advertise, but the ones we have dyno'd sometimes make less than 10 more hp, but they all make more torque

Thanks for posting, thats good info. If you put the trans in tow/haul mode (performance shift) it should lock the converter once you get rolling in 2nd gear.

    More results!

In the quest for making more power i went from 50/50 timing to 40/60 timing. 50/50 timing made more power and the truck runs faster in the 1/4 mile.

I have attached a picture of the dyno screen with the 2 runs overlayed. The runs were done 15minutes apart.

    Blue-50/50 timing

    Red-40/60 timing

The largest differences were 12hp and 22ft lbs

Thanks for posting this...I asked if anybody ever checked this tune in a different thread.
