quesstion about computer matching vin to vehicle 5.3 ls swap on 2003 s10

Im looking into doing a 5.3 swap on my 2003 s10 and was wondering if there is a way to write my truck vin and info to the 5.3 computer? I want the truck to still pass inspection and to do that they need to be able to plug into the obd2 port and the vin on the computer to match my truck right? For now im looking at just installing a stock 5.3 and 4l60e and probably just use a stock computer form a 5.3 truck or tahoe.

    Unfortunately not with HPTuners.

You will need a 411 pcm for the factory gauges and shifter indicator on the dash to work.

What does the 411 PCM come out of? Can this swap be setup to where when you take it in for inspection they can plug into the obd2 port? I'm trying to do this as a daily driver that won't have issues passing inspection.

The VIN will have to be in the PCM to pass inspection---At least it does where I live. HPTuners software will not allow a VIN/Year mismatch. Tunercats and EFILive don't have this restriction.

VIN of vehicle to year of what? The PCM Calibration?

Seems like an issue with all engine transplants?

The year of the Operating System has to match the year of the VIN.

if running a 4.3 liter now in the S10, it may be possible with several segment swaps, if it is a 4 cylinder, not with hptuners licensing structure.

I would just use a 2003 PCM for that 5.3 OR one with an O.S. that was used/compatable with 2003 VIN code, and VIN re-written as 2003 year. If all your monitors are set, the inspection machine should be happy enough that the year of your VIN matches up. I live in N.Y. and there are tons of people running around here with late model engine and PCM swaps on their road legal daily drivers. Just don't try to drink a 20oz. soda, buy a gun, smoke fake pot, or smoke a cigarette - yes even in public outdoors! They will seriously throw the book at you here in the Empire (Strikes Back) State.

Many places the Vin in the Pcm MUST match the Vin of the Vehicle, auto fail if it does not.

That's a lot of work.... get it tuned yourself and just send the finished product to a trusted tuner who can back up your work including the non-matching VIN, and then force the actual vehicle VIN back in on top.
