    4L80 Swap on 2010 Camaro A6

Has anyone done this on a car originally equipped with a 6L80?

I understand the transmission needs full manual control or its own controller, but as far as removing "removing" the 6L80 from the tune, is that something that can be done through a segment swap or what not or is there something else that needs to be done to the can bus system as well?

    Thanks

You can combine an E38 and a T42 no problem. Trucks have the same setup. Getting around the VIN/OS mismatch might be a challenge. Then again, you may be able to locate an OS that will work with your VIN and a T42. If you don't or can't, send me a PM or email.

looking like it, been making some interesting noises and has a nice flair on 3-4 upshift. temps are climbing more rapidly than they used to as well. the guy we put this car together for wails on it so he pretty much knew it was coming, plus the trans was on its way out prior to doing the motor/blower. ironing out the options of building the 6l80 vs swapping the 4l80.

thanks, when we are getting into segment swaps and what not we are a little out of my realm of experience. im guessing the T42 is the 4l80 trans segment? so it would be possible to retain pcm control and not run a separate controller? is that correct? i havent found an example of anyone doing that in my research.

T42 is a TCM. It's used to run 4L80Es and the 4L65s in the GTOs.

What is the process for doing the segment swap? Been looking at putting a 4l80 in my E38 car.

There's no segment swap. Wire up the TCM (must be preprogrammed) and read the entire file out.

We make a kit to do this. The E38 and T42 combination isn't too much trouble. The trick was to getting it to play nice with the BCM ABS etc. The 2010 in a A6 application is counting on seeing a T43, when it does not the entire communications can go down.

Anyway, it really really really really sucked developing this but we did it! So far we have 4 cars running across the country including one that will be in GM High Tech magazine soon.

We will have kits to swap M6 2010's to 4l80's soon.
