Thread: Tablet Tuning!

  1. #1

    Tablet Tuning!

I found that using my 5-6lb 15" laptop in & out of the car for tuning/logging to be a little cramped, awkward or "gangly" at best.

So, I found a solution. Went to the Microsoft store & picked up this. I actually got the first one that even they've seen. Fresh out of the UPS shipment. It's a full i5 Windows Pro PC.

Now all I need is the wide band & we'll be in business!

Yes, it clicks into the keyboard, then it can close like a laptop...

Thats pretty sweet! how do you like the touchscreen for tuning?

I just got it, so I frankly won't be able to give you an honest answer yet.

Give me a couple of times at the track & I'll let you know. First impression is that it is easy to use. It slides right into my lap under the steering wheel so I don't have to reach over to the passenger seat or prop it up on the steering wheel & balance it...

keep us posted, the lack of storage space is a turn off based on the reviews I have seen online.

Well, I used it this weekend on the V and I do like it better than the laptop so far. It takes a little getting use to, but the tablet is definitely easier to use than a laptop. The only thing that could maybe make it better is a mount (windshield or pedestal) to watch it log as I'm driving...

ya a mount would be ideal i want to mount on in my guage cluster in my race car but only like a 7 inch just for logging the lap top slides around to much ( even when seat belted in )

That would come in really handy. 1k is a little steep for the weekend warrior doing tuning but if you do it lots or for a living it might pay off.

I have a 15" laptop I use right now but recently was given a Dell Inspiron 910 that once I get a new charger cord for plan to start using.

Im using a Microsoft surface pro 3 right now. Love this little thing, i can fold the keyboard behind it and do most of the stuff with the touch screen. Very handy to use, I actually borrowed this one to see if I would like to purchase one. This has the I7 processor 256 gb hard drive and 8 gb of ram. I used it about 6 hours today with out plugging it in. I data logged about 2 hours with it during that time.

Has anyone used the ASUS transformer t100 yet I was looking at it the other day and for the money it seems like a good go to just not sure if the processor is enough to support HPT. It would be a dedicated tuning setup tho
