On this thread...
it is stated that the HPT scanner should work on any OBD2 compliant vehicle. Yet the other day I tried to scan my friend's 1997 Chevy Silverado truck with the 5.7L V8 engine, and it would not connect, giving the "cannot connect to PCM, be sure cable is connected and key is in RUN position..." message (forget the exact wording).
We tried several times, disconnecting and reconnecting the diagnostic cable in case a poor connection was being made there.
His diagnostic port works, because he uses a handheld to adjust trans shift points, etc. with no problem.
My HPT works perfectly when I am connected to my truck.
At the time I was using ver 1.6, although I have ver. 1.7 now.
Laptop is a HP Pavillion 3GHz, and am using the Keyspan adapter.
No other programs were running on the laptop at the time.
Would greatly appreciate any help you folks can provide.
Thanks,
