If the car was never tuned with your cable then it will need credits yes.

Always post a tune and a log when asking questions.
So Dsteck is tuning my car in SD so I will have to pay him for his credits and then turnaround and pay for the enhancement on my software too? That sucks.
Kind of like paying an electrician to wire your basement - they don't leave their tools behind for you to add more circuits later, on your own at no charge - you have to purchase your own tools.
Why not provide them your tuner to do the tuning then?
