2001 SS with mild mods and Hypertech tune looking for advice

So I just picked up a 01 SS with 40k on the clock, the guy who was selling the car said it has a "Zo6" top end kit purchased and installed from a company in Texas.

Now from what I Can tell the car has K&N Air filter, "243" head castings, LS6 Intake, Mid length headers, Catless Y-pipe to the stock Dual Dual catback & Rear 02 sims. Everything else appears stock I cannot verify cam for obvious reasons but he did give me a hypertech programing unit and told me the pcm was flashed with it. The only gripe I have with the car is the programming through hypertech and that it keeps throwing code P0171 "Fuel System Lean Bank 1", P1133 "HO2S Insufficient Switching Bank 1 Sensor 1" & P1153 "HO2S Insufficient Switching Bank 2 Sensor 1". I understand the o2 codes are normal with headers but I have cleaned the maf hoping to eliminate P0171.

My #1 I plan to flash this car back to stock file with the hypertech but does anyone feel it can benefit from a mail order tune for the "Mods" or will it be ok running on the stock file? I don't plan to run this car hard I basically bought it for a street build to start taking place next Spring but until then I just want to enjoy it for what it is and make sure all it's potential is being used and the engine is safe.

I attached the Hypertech file so you can see the changes it made from stock.

The only difference between the two is spark advance and pe changes. Both of the tunes are off if the car has heads, intake, and exaust on it. You need to tune the VE and MAF curve for the better flowing top end and exhaust

Here is a log of the car now and its tune that I returned to stock with the hypertech. I made changes to the fan temps and the o2's so they would not set the 1133/1153 codes.

I do still have P0171 code, after checking Fuel pressure, Vacuum leaks, doing a tune up, cleaning the maf and swapping o2's to see if it followed I have determined it is problem with tune or lack there of. Since I don't have a wideband on this car I am going to try and tune it using fuel trims until I can atleast put a wideband on it or get a professional to slap a mail order tune on it as I really don't have the time to play with this car like I use to. Does it matter if which one I start with first? Maf or VE?

Tuning with fuel trims is ok at part throttle at times. Very dangerous @WOT. No real way to know where your PE is. At least keep the NB 02's around 900 mv WOT.

I'd get a WB and stop band-aiding it. You spent the $$$ on the car, why not take your time and tune it correctly?

Well My #1 problem is Time. I usually work 14-18hr days and get one day off a week usually Sundays and I try to use that time to catch up on the family stuff. Long story short this car was just supposed to be the sporty Daily Driver type as I already have a Z28 built for the track/street I wanted this one just to drive and enjoy for the rest of the summer but clearly I just bought someone elses problems.

I have a NGK in my Z maybe I can get it switched over for a brief moment. If I do end up buying another Wideband what is a good one that works well with HPT? I like the NGK but would like to try something different on this car.

Anything 0-5v will work with HPT

I just put an Innovate LC-1 in Phat Bee & had no issues getting it logging. I replaced the B1S1 02 sensor and used the NB 02 output of the LC-1 in it's place and am logging the WB output in HPT Pro.

In my '02 WS6 LS1 I had an Autometer WB gauge pillar mounted that used a Bosch WB and I fed the 0-4v output into the EGR input (unused on the '02) for logging. That worked well also. Had to srt out the pins to add to the ECU connector though.

Is that the one that will fit into a gauge pod? I called off work today to mess with it and I am starting some basic MAF tuning off the STFT just to see if I get any kind of changes in the 25% reading from bank 1.

I will order a new Wideband for this car just to save from swapping back and forth between two cars unless I can buy the NGK harness and sensor separate and then just switch the readout from car to car.

I was able to do some STFT+LTFT to get the trims down from 25 to about 10, but I have not had any time to transfer my wideband and actually do some real tuning on this car. By the way my schedule looks it wont be until spring before I can figure everything out and dial it in correctly.
