    programmable Autometer Speedo ppm ???

So I have hpt calculating my VSS for tire/rear end. This effectively puts out the 4000 ppm to my speedo from the ECU, correct?

The question is, prior to having hpt I programmed my Autometer gauge to approx 3800 ppm due to a driving test per Autometer.

Should my speedo be set solid at 4000 ppm and make all my calculations go through hpt?

my limited understanding is that your gage should be set to the same number that the ecu is putting out. It might be easier to change what the ecu is putting out per mile compared to letting the gage try to re-learn and hoping that your reflexes are quick enough to push the button at exactly 4000.

I would think yes. It has been a while since I programmed my autometer but I know it is usually off by 3-4 mph. I am going to reprogram it this week and see if setting it at 4000ppm corrects the speedo.

When I did the autometer speedo in my mustang coupe I just did the drive procedure they asked for and it worked fine and was with in 1-2 mph.

programming doesn't matter, run the 2 mile calibration for the autometer gauge, providing you have the vehicle speed sensor programmed correctly in the ecu then everything will read the same. regardless to you programming of the ecu the autometer gauge will read correctly after the 2 mile calibration

Question is, can we program the auto meter to 4000ppm like the computer states and it will read perfectly?

Looks like the answer is yes boys. If the pcm is programmed for 4000ppm, then program your auto meter to 4000ppm and it will be money. Just verified it on my truck

yep you can do that, the only thing im not 100% on is if you have previously programmed your autometer gauge can you do a factory reset to 4000ppm

i have the push button program type and im not sure how to set to 4000ppm

you must keep in mind that 4000ppm form your ecu is only as accurate as your vss input
