    Truck won't start now

I was uploading a tune via write entire and halfway through the process, the pwr/trn relay started clicking continuously. Now the truck will not turn over and the relay is still clicking. I changed the relay and it continues to click. I also check all associated fuses and all are good.

Can someone help me out here? Hopefully the ecm isnt fired.

Disconnect Negative Battery Cable and hold it to Positive terminal for 20 seconds.
Reconnect and see if Relay still clicking, then with battery fully charged try another write entire.

Pcm may be locked up now though.

you can't fry the later ECM's (or TCM's) with write entire. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes, make sure it is charged (do not try to write with a battery charger connected), the try the write entire again. The ECM should recover fine.

I've been writing calibration to my 08 Corvette for four years having uploaded several hundred file changes with my CTEK 3300 connected and charging my battery without a problem. Have I been lucky or what? It was my understanding not to have the lap top charging while uploading. I've even done that a few times by mistake. I've driven to the track with lap top charging, forget and make a file change with it still plugged into my inverter and charging.

Flashing any way with a charger increases the chances of surging or spiking the Pcm and damaging it.

Doesnt mean it will happen all the time or 50% or 20%
it just GREATLY increases the chances of it happening.

Well I had the battery tested and all is good there. It showed that the battery with 83% charged. I put the battery on the charger and charged it to 100%. Installed into the truck and I still have the same problem, prw relay clicking away. This sucks

How is the PWR/TRN relay wired?

    With key off
    87 pole = ground
    30 pole = +
    86 pole = +
    85 pole = open

    With key on relay removed

    87 pole = ground
    30 pole = +
    86 pole = +
    85 pole = 0.4 v

I thought the output would be pole 87 but this has me scratching my head.

    85 pole = 12 volt battery source
30 pole = 12 volt battery source (can be the same source as pole 85)
86 pole = to ECM (ECM Powertrain Relay Control - grounds the circuit)
87 pole = 12 volt output (when relay is activated) to injectors / O2 / TB

When the ECM receives ignition voltage (key to ON or RUN position), the ECM grounds the Powertrain Control Relay - which supplies power to the injectors / O2 / TB /, etc.

Put my ECM into a buddies tbss and it is doing the same thing. Pretty much narrows it down to the ECM now. Guess u can fry a late model ECM

were you writing entire with a tune from another vehicle?

there is just no way the ECM cannot be recovered unless it actually failed, which is uncommon, but not impossible.

I was trying to figure out if the my tbss or the ECM was the problem. When I swapped ECMs in my buddy's tbss and turned the ignition now, pwr relay clicking away like it does in mine.

If you scan it. rpm goes to 550 to Zero along with the clicks. The ECM will not take a write entire. It screen pops up where it tells you the sequence of events but does nothing.
