    Radio pops

Everytime I connect the hptuner to scan or flash it resets and sometimes pops the radio like a bad ground. Radio goes in and out while scanning. This happens on any car I tune, even my 1999 Buick Regal GS all stock electronics/radio.

Should I post a video of what is happening?

I searched for any one else having this issue and didn't see any.

Should I post a video of what is happening? Wondering if the interface needs repair or I need a better USB cable (not that anything is visually wrong with it)

When flashing the PCM, I ensure anything that doesn't need to be on is turned off. Doors are closed (no courtesy lights), no heater/air blower running and no radio. I don't want to have any stray voltage surges or spikes to interfere with updating the PCM. Even thought I remember that being suggested somewhere.

But I have never had an issue scanning on my 99 T/A like you describe. When you say it resets, what exactly do you mean? A better description of what's happening may result in more feedback from the forum.

It probably wouldn't hurt to try another USB cable.

Another thought...are you using the laptop on battery power or are you using a power invertor of some sort (AC-DC or DC-DC)? Not sure how this would cause an issue unless it was somehow introducing noise into the electrical system or into the OBD port through the interface. A sticky on the forum warns against using power invertors because of the potential to damage the PCM and other issues.

Another person in another thread had similar issues with their Regal for whatever reason, ultimately they just ended up pulling the fuse before flashing. I've personally never had an issue on my GTP or any other vehicle that I've flashed.
If I hear when will Dodge be ready one more time...I might do one of these

IIRC, mine was doing the same thing.
the cure was, making sure my anti-virus programs left HPTunner completely alone. Every file.

    Again, IIRC.
I think I know what I'm doing, have not blown up my car ....yet! Love my 2001 Buick Regal GS.

    Ah crap, nevermind.
    Mine just did it.
It has something to do with the scanner being on and not totally turning off the scanner before doing a write.
the write was starting to go stupid and failing. needed to abort. which almost bricked my PCM.
I had to D/C the scanner and the editor and pull the connector. Wait a couple of minutes and then do another re-write. Neither was not the "write entire", I used the quick click, "write calibration only".
    Got it started..... Whew......

My radio cuts out while scanning and I can help slight popping/crackling in the right rear speaker.... As soon as I disconnect HPT from the car and pull the plug from the OBDII port it comes back on, but all memory is erased.

If my radio is on when I start scanning the speakers pop loud when the radio looses power.
