Cam sensor code new ls3

Having hard start issues in new gmpp ls3/480. Getting a p0341 code indicating cam sensor circuit. Do cam sensors fail? Once it is up and running all is fine. Does have a tendency to stahl if you put it in gear right after starting. If you wait for20 seconds before putting in gear it is fine.

Sensors can go bad yes, however, it is best to check the ckt from sensor to Pcm first.

Is it a hard code? comes back right away after clearing?

No, the code doesn't come back right away. We check voltage and has 5 volts to sensor. Also swapped out the sensor with new one. Still wants to die when we drop it into gear. Once that happens the engine will not start unless partial throttle is given. I understand the excessive cranking could throw this code as well? Thanks for your help!
