    Tuning LS2 C6 with 102mm TB/manifold and G6XE Cam

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if someone could give me some assistance, or advice.
We have a Corvette C6 (2005) LS2 6.0L Manual in our workshop. We are the Corvette dealer for the UK. We don't usually get involved in tuning cars, but one of our existing customers is having some trouble and we've agreed to try and help him out. Being across the pond means we don't have too many local tuners for these cars. I don't think the customer was aware that his car would need tuning once these parts were fitted. From his invoices, I can see he bought his HPTuner after everything else.

The customer has the 102mm Nick Williams Throttle Body, FAST LSX manifold and LG G6XE cam. Everything else is pretty much stock. I also have his HPTuner. We didn't fit any of his parts.

On a stock map, the car runs really badly. Changing a few suggested settings for the throttle body does not help a great deal. I assume it runs badly because the map does not suit the new cam. Does anyone running one of these cams have any suggested settings that I can alter? Or is this car in need of a complete remap? The HP tuner I have is not the wideband kit.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Obviously, you can tell me if this is a lost cause I will either try and find someone over here who knows what they're doing, or convince the customer to go back to his stock cam.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. That would be ideal, but I didn't even know that was an option. I hadn't found anywhere on the LG website that offers it. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.

I sent them an e-mail yesterday to confirm exactly what they sold to our customer and I'm still waiting for a reply. If/when they do reply, I'll ask if they can sell me their tune.

Thanks for the replies. I have been in touch with LG, who have supplied me with a start-up tune. Apparently the cam they supplied is a G5X3, not the G6XE. I have produced a couple of log files and they have modified the tune and sent it back to me. It's always tricky since our time difference really only gives us 2-3 hours a day when we can communicate. The car is certainly running a lot better, although I wouldn't say it's exactly perfect. It idles at about 1100rpm and is slow to lose revs when you dip the clutch (very slow from 2000 rpm down to idle). The guy who I have been dealing with at LG is now out of the office until Thursday, so I'm a bit stuck what to do now. If you have any ideas which areas might need tweaking, I could do a little trial and error work myself. Alternatively, the customer is due to have a new roof under the GM safety recall, so we can take another look at it when it comes back for that. The car is driveable in the meantime.

Post the file, and I'll see if I can make some changes to help out. At least coming back to idle slow is better than stalling out!

See file attached. I only put that tune in this morning so don't have a log yet, although I could probably get a 15 minute (or so) one done if needed. Let me know if you do. Thanks for all your help.

even your cylinder Val is setted to 5.7 engine

i guess even when you scan the car you will have MAP sensor code

I didn't notice that. In defence of LG, I've checked the original (what I thought was stock) file I sent to them to modify, and that's also set as a 5.7L. I guess someone must have been tinkering with the settings before we saw the car. It makes me wonder what other settings weren't stock in the 'stock' file I created.

I don't think I'll be able to convince the customer to send the car over to the States, but I know that would be the ideal solution.

This does not matter as the GMVE values have the cylinder volume incorporated into them.

According to Bill, the incorrect cylinder volume field was a mistake on GM's part.
