    Tuner says he needs SCT?

    I wanted to get some input on this.
    I have a 2010 Camaro A6 and want a performance tune for the engine and transmission.

    Howver, the Tuner says he has to use SCT because HP Tuners can't access all the configs in the transmission.....Is this true?

    I have HP Tuners for my other cars and really would like to avoid buying another device just for uploading tunes. I've download the file from my camaro and it has a boatload of configs that can change, but does anybody know if there are more that are critical to a good tranny tune?

    1st question ,, why would you wanna play with your transmission tune ? is it modified ?
    secondly ,, if you have your own HPtuners
    go to the Gear section in your file and have a look at what would you like to see

    i always say ,, it depeneds on the tuner ,, whats his Toy ? SCT or Hptuner ,,
    give him his Toy and let him play

    Sounds like your tuner is dillusional or just doesn't know what he's doing to me.
    It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Nothing new transmission wise for the HD2500's, they use the same old T43

    The car is stock but I want to change when the transmission shifts in auto mode and the firmness and quickness of the shift itself. And I'm going to be changing the gearing.....so that will require a re-tune. Just trying to find the right technician and eliminate the crooks along the way.

    He has HP Tuners...and he knows I have HP but this was the story I got so I'm validating....

    Does anybody know?
    Does the SCT device have access to calibrations that HPTuners does not? Its a black/white question.

    If its a no....then I know the tuner is lying to me and trying to protect what he considers to be his proprietary knowledge.

    Pretty sure I know who you're "tuner" is then. If you search around on this forum, you'll find one of his tunes that someone else posted and you'll see what he does and doesn't do.

    I don't beleive so. There was even a thread on camaro5 where your tuner was arguing this. In fairness to him, he's not trying to protect anything. My understanding is that he is still a little skittish of using HPT due to an old bug in one of the pressure tables.

    OK Thx....thats good info...has the "old bug" been fixed that you know of?

    And the guy has a pretty good rep for tuning the trannnys, I'm just trying to avoid buying yet another device if I can avoid it.

    I find if i don't do my due diligence with vendors I usually get ripped off.

    I have both. There's nothing in SCT that's not in HPT. Actually, HPT has a far more advanced scanner. I believe your tuner is just lacking confidence in HPT, or just doesn't use it enough. If it's who I think it is, he's got all the Camaro5 guys snowed.

    As has been stated, sounds like the usual specious reasoning from a particular vendor on Camaro5.

    Anyhow, I can understand a tuner being more familiar with one tuning solution over another, but claiming missing functionality in HPT vs. SCT implies a lack of understanding or deliberate obfuscation.

    There's no reason to buy yet another software tuning platform. I'd recommend using a tuner that is willing to tune with the HPT software you already have.

    i would say
    HPtuners = GM cars Trucks
    SCT = Fords
    Diablo = dodge

    I haven't seen anything you can't do with HPTuners that you can do with SCT...and usually when we do run into something, we just ask the HPTuners support, and they add it...nothing is intentionally left out.
