9354896 00 vette tach output settings

can't get this to work. it's swapped engine and tach is classic instruments tach. car previously had 0411 pcm and with 6/6 it was working.

now has 4896 to match the engine/trans but can't get tach to do anything.

don't know if it has pullup resistor or not.

i've read all the posts for math on how to set it.
    i've tried
    1/1
    2/2
    3/3
    etc stopping at 12/12

    also tried
    12/1
    11/1
    10/1
etc until 2/1 and still nothing.

is there something special about the 4896?

    please help!

Only answer I have for you, is the output of the PCM isn't working.

The hi/lo will only calibrate the signal. It won't make it work.

Simply put the tach output may be bad? Adding a pull up resistor might work?

Is it set to serial output instead of crank?

serial/crank isn't option in the older pcms, only high/low settings.

could be bad. seems rare but could be bad. now's when i need a scope.

3/3 would be the 4 pulse per rev setting....
6/6 is the stock and 2 pulse per rev setting....

but here's the really weird thing. it previously had an 0411 ecu, and tach worked fine with that one. in the 0411, the settings were 6/6.
that's why i'm worried wayne is correct.

    Why'd you switch PCM's?

  9. #9
i think we could start a whole new section, not thread, on that.
was harness and pcm (0411) from speed and performance. pcm is 02 escalade. engine/4L60 is 00 vette. has all the stuff for cruise control too. project car. years later it's running and owner decides CC doesn't work right. me, another shop, pcmcalibrators.net and more can't figure it out. so we get pcm to match engine. now it's only worse. no tach, won't shift, can only guess no CC.

    I'm confused....

What is the motor out of?

What is the trans out of?

What is the PCM/programming out of?

What is the engine harness out of?

  11. #11
    i know it is confusing.
    engine/trans - 00 corvette
    pcm - 02 escalade (0411)
harness - made by street (or is it speed?) and performance

he's now sent the 00 vette pcm to them to see if they can get it to work.

And why doesnt' the 0411 PCM work? Why aren't you using it? With the 00 Vette programming??

  13. #13
it does, it works perfect, except for the cruise control. when you engage it with the 0411, it's steady for about 4-5s, then stabs the gas, lets off, stabs, lets off, then maybe goes steady, some decel, then stabing again, sometimes for as much as 1-2s, but it always ends up flooring the gas. at that point, you disengage it.
so since the pcm is escalade and there are no available parameters for CC, the logic was get a pcm that matches the powertrain and it should work.
but i've not even been able to test it since not even the tach works with the oo vette pcm.

All you need is an os change not a pcm change. You could have loaded the corvette tune into the escalade pcm.

yah, 2 problems with that though.
    1, i've never done it and 2, i didn't have a stock 00 vette file.
so for what the used pcm cost, that was path of least resistance.
