    GTO breaking up at 6500rpm

    hey guys,

Here recently i have had an issue with my goat not wanting to pull all the way to 7k rpm.

The car was tuned by Formato back in November with the 408 that is in it now. It had straight pipe exhaust (stock catback with muffler deletes) coming off Kooks 1-7/8" headers and an SNL 4" intake with a 100mm MAF. It pulled fine to 7k rpm.

Since, i put on a 3" headerback exhaust with Borla mufflers and nothing else without a tune. The car did pull fine to 7k rpm until about 3 weeks ago. It felt like if your sitting still and rev up the car to rev limit, it doesnt really bounce, it just stays up there. That is what it feels like when doing a pull. It runs like a bat outta hell until 6500 rpm and then it feels like stated about but if i stay in it, it will slowly pull up to 7k rpm.

A week ago, I installed an Elite Engineering Catch Can and a stainless steel clutch line. Took it out, and the same thing happened with the breaking up.

Yesterday, i put a Svede OTRCAI on the car and while doing so, noticed the intake bolts on my FAST 102 were loose. I tightened them up to 85 in-lb and checked my TB bolts as well. I went out to tune it today (add some fuel) and yet again, more breaking up at 6500 rpm.

i have attached Formato's tune file, a scan, and my OTRCAI tune (again just adding some fuel), with a scan.

Has anyone had this problem? I dont know what the problem is all of a sudden. I figured tightening the intake bolts would fix the problem but no cigar.

EDIT: I forgot to mention i put brand new TR55 spark plugs in this morning. Plug wires may be tired though, they are stock. Even further, 2 of them have broken on me so i have one ls1 wire and one truck wire.

i may have just cleared this up for myself.....

    Derek

People are so quick to blame the laptop! Lol! The calibrations don't decide to stop working over night.

When people call me about issues the first thing I ask is did this just start to happen? When they say yes I tell them to start looking and call me back!

    Glad you found it!

I wasn't referring to you, and I don't think Redline MS was specifically either. Just in general.

Hell, the only reason I know what broken valve springs behave like is I had six take a dump on my Z06.
