Considering an HP Tuner - 2010 Camaro 2SS

I have a list of mods below but basically this car was dyno tuned before I bought it. I have the tuner and the .LS2 files it uses. I manage a whole 12.1mpg. I know similar mods on other 5th gen Camaros garner much better mileage and still maintain power gains. It dyno'd at 445rwhp and def is a fast car but idles pretty rough (surging esp when slowing to a stop). Hardware all looks good. New plugs just to be safe since I bought it used with 19k miles on it.

Bottom line is I know something is not up to par here and there are no dyno tuners in my area at all. I am pretty computer and mechanically literate thus considering doing my own tweaking. Is this the right tuner for this? I'll list my mods and hopefully the experienced folks here can shed some light on my next step...

Thanks for any advice guys and girls!

445 RWHP is very good number for Camaro

if you have the car tuned and you are not a tuner ,, you can always
    POST the FILE Car ,,,
    IDLE for 5 mine
    Wide open throttle
then people can tell u what do u need
you can try to increase the airlfow or you can do it perfect thro the scanner
if you arent experience with the HP tuner ,, its better to TRY to increase it 5% at time and see whats happening ,,
do not SAVE over your original file ,, so u can go back to your original file if you have it mess

I can not attach my tune file as it is an invalid file extension for this forum software. It is a different format than I think you guys are using. The tuner is the proprietary unit that came from the shop that dyno'd it. Livernois.

    The file is titled "abird_stg2c_CAI_Kooks_LT_91.LS2"

Not sure if it can be converted to a usable format by HP or not. I assumed I would have to create a new file from scratch if I went with HP.

Hope this is useful to someone. Thanks!

LS2 edit. When you get HPtuners I believe you can just read out the tune and then modify. If it's locked, you'll need to go a different route.

LS2 Edit files are pretty much always locked. Only unlock is from original tuner, Vector or Livernois most likely.

this is Livernois Motorsports fucking bullshit.

Stupid bastards can't do anything right.

The tune WILL be locked by the way. Tell them to take their crap out and we'll get it straightened up. They didn't even mess with fuel trims, basically they set the car to run in open loop all the time, because they couldn't ground a decent cam to save their soul.

Lots of bad blood between them and I.

Tell us how you REALLY feel! Don't hold back, let it out man!

As for being locked, I'm not sure about that. One of the shops I tune for pulled one (from a 5th gen), and sent it to me, and I can open it and view it just fine. Didn't try to flash it, so don't know if there would be an issue there or what, but my experience with locked 'edit' tunes is you can't open them. Matter of fact, I believe you can't even read them out, but it's been a while since I ran in to one, so could be wrong on that.

Not sure. I don't run in to locked tunes much any more. Most of the ones I have run in to though, you can read them, just not save and/or open them.

if you car is tuned well
and there is no problem ,, you dont need to do anything with it
    Hp tuner is good ,,
alot of people know how to tune ,, many tuning shops

but if you dont have any problem in your car ,, there is no reson to remove your tune and re-tune it

I appreciate the advice vette_c6 but as I mentioned early in this thread this car is drinking gas like mad and idles terrible. I am running about 4mpg less than anyone else I've talked to with similar or better mods. Thanks tho. I gotta do something here.

I will have to give that a go if and when I buy this tuner. I'd hate to buy one and find out I have a locked ECM. Ouch. May have to just chance it but that's a lot of money to experiment with. On the flip side, if you guys with the experience can look at my data I pull with it and help me build from there it would be worth it. Lotsa variables for $650.00 Just not sure yet.

even if its locked you could start from scratch and just flash over the tune that is in it

I just got confirmation that my ECM is in fact locked and I do not have to stock tune file so I appreciate the advice on moving forward. Lotta knowledge and experience here. I'll stay tune (no pun intended) to this forum when I make my move. Thanks!

I contacted Livernois and they sent me my stock files. Told me how to restore and unlock it. Pretty cool service there. Now to decide. I found a shop an hour away that will dyno tune for $450 OR...I buy my own tuner here. If I buy a tuner and send my data will some of you guys that are definitely the experts out there help with my setup?
