Maybe someone could explain how the A/C tables work?

I've done a pretty heavy search on here and google but all the answers I found were pretty vague.

Can someone explain the different tables that control the air conditions system in the pcm. Inertia tq, ramp in/out, spark retard, ect. This might be a stupid question but I'm having a hard time understanding what these tables tell the pcm to do.

Is the inertia tq table something that tells the pcm how much tq the a/c clutch will take to engage? So if your rpm drops when engaging, the numbers in the inertia tables should be increased?

I don't understand what ramp in/out is at all.

Why would the pcm want to retard spark advance when the clutch engages? Thanks guys

Yeah i am interested as well, my car had a stutter and richened up as soon as air con was engaged, i incresed my throttle cracker table at low revs and it helped a lot, i'm not sure if it's the right way to go about it but i don't understand a/c tables either!!

I just zero the max retard table. No idea why GM wants the timing to retard every time the A/C is turned on or off.

Thanks for your input Russ. I didn't really understand why they would anyway.

Torque Management>Engine>AC tables in the middle section.

I'm working on this as well. fixing some parts of my tune has now caused a massive drop in rpms when the AC engages at idle. Few steps fwd. few steps back. Rinkrat's idle config post is the only place that I've found covers some of what you can do with these tables (although briefly). I'm all ears for anyone that knows about how to use the AC Torque tables to share some knowledge.

I got mine tuned finally. It doesn't surge or fluctuate rpm anymore.

What vehicle are you working on and what mods does it have?

I'm going to bump this back up. I've got a stock cube ls1 with a procharger, heads, 227/235, 113lsa cam and it'll idle fine without the a/c on, but once I turn on the a/c, it instantly drops and stalls.

Post up a log of it stalling a couple times so we can see what is going on. Also the tune
