    Brick PCM - Tech2

Today, I've bricked my first PCM ... playing with ETC parameters ... (alternate mode and others stuff)
    2005 chevy avalanche

My question is : Can a tech2 unbrick the pcm (loading the default tune?) or I have to buy a new pcm.

GM french stealership ask me about $150 (for just trying), it's the price of a new one PCM ... but I have to wait 1 week (living in France).

    Lesson learned is :
    -You can play with 5%
    -Not 10% ;-)

    I've ordered a new PCM.
I'm very curious about the procedure to unbrick a pcm ...

that's too bad and frustrating ;-(

the only way i know is to desolder the chip and use an eeprom programmer.

Out of interest what DTC are you seeing?

Well, High Temperature Engine, High Transmission Temperature, no trans shifting, no start ... the car was on the dyno, on park position .

I've removed the PCM. I've tried it to my bench harness.
I can read the PCM with the scanner without problem (no DTC), but I can't read it or write it with the editor.

    *** PCM Porn time ***
A PCM definitively looks better on a car than in my living room btw ...

Why would you do this? Following all the previous posts, and locked threads,.. Are you proving a point here? Still smell like cow crap?

    Experience ...
I've never bricked a PCM tuning more than 150 cars. Chuck did ... I was certainly jealous ... No problem doing this on C5,C6, F Bodies. I've already change C5 paramaters more than 30%. The PCM is the same than 2003+ LS1.
I've gained 21 rwhp from the tune (just a K&N) and made a more agressive shifting with the town haul mode. I wanted a more crispy feeling on this mode (the car is so heavy), I've been too far ...
I know now this is not a myth ... and that the myth is over exploited ...
I have to check the tac module part number to understand.

P59 controllers still the same? Ever do truck pcms? I have a P59 with a real bad throttle response, so bad its neck snapping. we would like to remove some throttle petal at say 50% pedal, less blade. Anything just off idle the truck just takes off really badly. I guess some people are wanting this effect. im wanting to reduce it.

LOL now looking at your pic, i have the same PCM OS 12592618. guess these are a big NO NO to play with, ?

try to play on max rotation parameters or with more probably with timing...
you can copy the alternate pedal area to normal pedal area to have a slower response...
or you can learn to use you right foot ;-)
what are your mods ? truck model/year ?
