    help getting car to idle

I am new to this tuning and I just finished the motor build on my car and now I am trying to get it to idle, it starts up and idles great for about 16-20 seconds then it starts fluctuating and dies, I attached two logs of it doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks, Curt Maurer

Idk if this is the proble but all the P/N rows in you target idle speed and in your idle airflow table are zeroed out. does the car idle if you put it in gear?

Where did you get this tune file from? And who has made changes to it?

Why are you running 9.8 AFR, is it E85? I think yes because of the big injectors.
It's hard to know without info about the engine and mods.

I think you should return all idle tables to stock and start over.
It seems your engine is hunting for idle because it's rich. Try to lean it a little to see if it helps.

Why is your MAF reading 0 Hz always?

You need a more useful log, because you are recording useless parameters like O2's, STFT, LTFT and fuel trim cell for a Openloop tune.
Log idle parameters like IAC desired position, IAC counts, etc. to do a proper diagnostic.

The mail in tune originally came from Keith McCord..
The motor is 3.905 bore 3.900 stroke
    12.3:1 CR
    E-85
    60lb siemens injectors
    6speed

I am very new to tuning and I did not know what parameters to setup

Base running airflow is the backbone to idle. So you need to fix that table. It's blank in P/N so fill that in with the same values as in gear for right now. You need to search on here for the russ k idle config and run that from cold to warm without touching the throttle at all. Then you will take the numbers that were populated in the histogram, and paste them in the base running airflow. table. You will want to do it a couple of times in both park and in gear.

Do you have a wideband on this car?

Watch the wideband vid in the help files that greg banish did. He shows you how to set it up through HP tuners

Your target idle speed for p/n is still all zeros. I would also try change the idle overspeed and underspeed tables to -4 and positive 4 all the way across. If you running e85 are you running an aftermarket pump at 65lbs of fuel pressure because you flow rate vs kpa table says you have 73lbs per hour injectors. it would take 65lbs of fuel pressure to make those #60 you said you have flow 73lbs/hr if they are rated at 43.5lbs of pressure like most injectors. If you correct those tables and still no luck the idle airflow table could be to low. try increasing those by 5-10 percent and see if it gets better

What are the specs on the cam?

Also in the log, you can see our timing is jumping around a ton. I saw that you flatlined the timing at 27 degrees but I think you should try somewhere around 22. If it is cammed, you need to cut the idle overspeed/underspeed timing tables in half to see how that helps.

Why is the idle airflow only being populated in the 140 cell?

It could surge like that also from over fueling. But I have no idea what your wideband should show for E85.

It's a 6spd setup so there is no need to populate the P/N sections of the idle routines. 6spd calibrations run on the "in gear" parts of the calibration only.

First step is to just add about 3g/sec to the idle airflow to get it to at least idle and then get fueling lined out before attempting to tune the idle. Usually idle routines is one of the last things I do because fueling and timing need to be inline before you tell the PCM the amount of idle airflow it's going to use as a base to start from.

The injector settings are directly from the dvd for the 60s
The wideband is still setup for gasoline so it should be 14.7 @ Lambda

How do you get the fueling and timing inline if the car won't even idle by itself?

We still don't know what the cam specs are.....

Just raise the idle up to 1000 or more so it will hold an idle. Then you can get fueling in line
