Ok, so a friend brings me a car with an STS kit, methanol injection, and long tubes. M6 car, 2000 model. The car is cutting out and he believes it to be the MAP. MAP is 10 kpa all the time. I adjust his high RPM disable for dynamic airflow to "1" to make it MAF all the time until his two bar comes in and I can convert the car. Car stops cutting out.
Two bar installed and I convert the car to an '02 operating system with 2-bar, it will not pull itself. Idles very rich until you give it throttle, then pegs lean and does not respond. As soon as the car moves, the speedo sweeps up to 150 and back to 0. I turned the MAF back on, the car actually drove a bit before shutting down. At this point, I converted back to the MAF stock OS tune. Car again drove fine. I did notice that the TPS did not go over 9%, but again the car drove fine, so I was at a loss on that one.
Thinking for whatever reason the '02 was somehow not compatible, I converted the "stock" 00 OS. It had the same problems.
To get the customer through, I converted back to stock OS tune we had been using. I then went to adjust the curve, but it wanted to take 20-25% out of the lower ranges and add 10-15% to the upper ranges as if it wasn't adjusting. After the third time, I was out of battery and patience for the night.
Now, the only thought on the 2-bar I have is that a speed density tune relies on the TPS a lot more than a MAF tune? Has anyone else encountered this problem? As for the other tune, even though I changed to to MAF only, I get the feeling it was running speed density but off the 2-bar, which meant it read half what it should have and that made it rich down low and lean up top. That's my only solutions though, any input is greatly appreciated.
I have three tunes below, the STS tune changed to MAF only, and the two 2-bar tunes. I also have two logs, one from the 2-bar setup, and another from the last time I tried adjusting the 1-bar stock OS MAF-only tune.
