A buddy of mine was telling me the other day that he talked to a guy who used a stock tune for a 2.9 I4 colorado in his 2.8 canyon. is this even possible to do without damaging anything?

If they are the same ECU and OS it might take it, but why would you want to? Stay far, far away. lol.

I was thinking more about it today, and yea, it may take the tune, but it wouldnt be worth it since the engine its self is bigger or smaller and the ecu may take it but then its thinking its a bigger engine with more combustion area, and that wouldnt really be a good idea

I've seen dealers pull the line that a car has a performance ecm with a tune for a larger engine before...
Please God No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Do not put a file intended for another engine into that ECM. Even if they use the same ECM the calibrations are bound to be very different and you will be royally messing up things you cannot likely see in the ECM when you do the write entire.
