Thread: LSJ spark histogram issues (airmass)

    LSJ spark histogram issues (airmass)

I'm probably using some improper histogram settings for my LSJ, but being a newby it worked OK-ish till now. (altered some that I pick when OL-WB or CL-trim tuning)
But now having trouble with my spark & KR vs airmass tables; Have an issue with the histogram airmass ranging from 8 - 136 while my LSJ tune needs 0.08 - 1.36 g/cyl. Could not change the std histograms, so made a new custom Airmass x 100 PID. But logging spark I only get a max of ~64 (= 0,64g/cyl) for my stage 2 pulley. (See log @20:43)
Doing a rough calc that should read 277g/sec *30/7000rpm = 1.19g/cyl max. So around half of my logged value...

Am I correct that by introducing that custom airmass*100 PID, HPT now averages the 2 airmass values? If so I probably found my problem.
But how do I solve that issue with the different airmass axis values for the std PID/histogram??

(Note; car is an European Opel Speedster with an LSJ and GMS2 pulley. )

26 reads and I'm still a bit stuck here. For now I solved it by multiplying my custom calculated airmass by 200 instead of 100, as that gives me a somewhat correct average from the 2 combined airmasses: ((1.36 x 200) + 1.36 )/ 2 = 136.7 That will work...

Can someone point me to a config that uses the right histo airmass axis for my LSJ spark map? (0.08-1.36 g/cyl)

It's tuning time again and I'm still lacking a proper airmass histo...
Anybody willing to share a good working histo for tuning an LSJ??

    Thxs

You need to post your config also so we can see what you got going on.

I am not sure what problem you are seeing. This is the one I use for the a/c switch wideband. Also are you running e85 in your car? One last thing you need to dial that afr in before you add timing like that your afr was high 10s to super low 11s and your command was 11.8.

The problem is in the spark logging, as my histo has a wrong airmass scaling (ranging from 8 - 136 while my LSJ tune needs/gives 0.08 - 1.36 g/cyl), all the logged airmass values are plotted in the 1st line.

As a workaround I made a 2nd custom airmass calculation where I multiplied the airmassvalue x 100. Problem is that HPT then averages both these airmass values in the logs, so I get half of the correct value. Corrected the custom airmass so it compensates the averaging, but simply need a good LSJ base config file.

    Will try yours, thxs.

    I'm getting crazy...

Loaded your config and the spark histo shows exactly like mine with the wrong airmass axis values... See the attached scanner and editor airmass pics.
    (8 - 136 vs. 0.08 - 1.36 g/cyl)

    What am I missing?

Your histo is definitely all sorts of funky looking.

First of all, your engine speed columns seem to have decimals (1.280 instead of 1280.... don't put a commas except when seperating numbers btw), and you cyl airmass rows have the decimal in the wrong place (I'm seeing 100 instead of 1.00). Make those fixes in the histo settings and see if that fixes your issue.

take a a screen shot of your axis values in the setup section for that histo

No problems with the engine speed notation in my scanner. (Probably a difference between Metric and Imperial settings.)

I would like to simply change the histo axis settings for the KR histo, but I cannot change these axis settings for that "standard" histogram in my scanner configs...

The screen print with wrong axis values was with Laser_racer's config, so are the histogram settings not part of a config? Or are histo's loaded-in from another place? That would explain why Laser's config shows the same wrong KR axis...

when a config is uploaded everything is transfered minus the user defined custom pids.

I simply started my HPT scanner (V2.23, latest update from 1 week ago)
Loaded the config Laser_racer posted in post #5.
Checked the main table for correct parameters etc.
Opened the histo's and looked at #1, Main Spark advance vs rpm
Airmass axis is displayed 8 - 136 g/cyl... (see screen print post #7)

How is this possible if all histo's are transferred together with the new config file I just loaded in???

    Scanner.cfg may be corrupted?

  15. #15
This problem I also had with my V2.23 version of last year. (and why I made that workaround with a custom airmass calculation...)
Hoped it would be OK with this later V2.23 I dowloaded for my mate's new MPVI or simply vanish with a new config.
    But it's not...

Why not delete all the car history out of the scanner folder and reload from your car? Or uninstall reinstall the program.

I would start but just deleting the scanner.cfg in the settings file then recheck.

I'm getting seriously annoyed by this thing...

If I'm correct the scanner loads, after clearing the last vehicle, the supported parameters in from the ecm, right?
Then it should load the histogram that matches the OS-ID editor tables. (depending on what config is loaded)

I now tried a few different Ion/Cobalt ecm's, cleared vehicle, started up, loaded parameters => all result in the wrong airmass axis...

Removed HPTuners from C: re-installed V2.23. Even removed the airmass histo's from the scanner map. All the same.. wrong value...

Then opened an empty histo # and loaded the above custom LSJ airmass histo there => shows airmass 8-136 g/cyl....

If you look at this screen print, you see the wrong axis value (8-12-16) and the correct histo axis settings (0.08-0.12-0.16 etc)

    I'm totally lost now...

But; I did not do any logging with these histo's, so will see if this maybe does work OK with simply the wrong axis value showing...

Edit: no it does not. Everything is still plotted in the 1st airmass row, so mailed support about my issues.

The labels shouldnt matter but have you tried deleting the VCM Scanner.cfg
