First let me make this point clear : I do NOT know anything about the internal operation of computers;I can only follow directions if they are laid out in English words and in "baby" step by steps. So if I'm too dumb for you to communicate with, I sincerely thank you fo reading this far and really do not wish to take up any more of your time. I say this because I've tried several times to get some help from HPT tech support but they do not seem to be able to lower their instructions to an idiot level. All I get are cute one liners in code that I can't understand.That's not their fault, its my ignorance.I do searches to find some help. Every post is in "computerees" that I can't comprehend.
So I'm hopeing there's someone out there who can remember that time, a long time ago, when they were not so familiar with their computer.
I've got the original version of HPT and that makes me obsolete and "no longer supported" by HPT.
My lap top went belly up.I bought a new lap top.Tried to download 2.2 ; get the 64 bit notice ( new lap top has Windows 7).Gave up trying to install 2.2.
Bought another lap top - Widows XP pro. Tried to download 2.2. Computer says I need netwok framework 2. I HAVE framework 2 installed -VARIFIED by microsoft tech support ( very nice people who can communicate with idiots). Tried HPT 2.2 again - says I need framework 2.Hello? I HAVE network 2.
I once again give up on HPT 2.2.
I've got a backup disk with HPT 2.1.10 (requires network 1.1). Tried to download 2.1.10, get a message I need framwork 1.1. I have network 1.1 (again varified by microsoft tech support).
I've got a backup disk with HPT1.4. I am able to download it ( !! )but when I e-mail a tune over to the Lap Top from my PC I can't open the tune - message says there's no file set up to open the tune.
Now I know this is probably a very simple Computer 101 problem. I don't care what genration of HPT I can get running, I just want any generation I can get to download and open up e-mails so I can store my tunes and scans.
If anyone can help I'd sincerely appreciate it. If you just want to sound off and tell me how dumb I am see paragraph 1 above.
Sorry this got so long its an indication of how frustrated I am.
