    '05 CTSV, PCM bricked?

    Hello,

I have in my shop a 2005 Cadillac CTSV that apparently has a bricked/dead PCM after a HPTuners flash. The PCM initially scanned, the cal was modified and flashed to the vehicle. Upon the initial fire up the car started and idled, after one touch of the throttle the engine turned off, the coolant temp gauge climbed to max, the car won't restart and it will not let me connect/flash via the VCM editor (2.23) using either 'Calibration only" or "Write Entire" I think it's either step 3 or step 4 that fails.

Anyone have any advice, run into this issue or know how to fix this?

You try disconnecting the battery for 20 min? Disconnect the battery, disconnect the tool from the car, and the laptop. Wait 20 minutes and hook everything back up.

Been there done that. Scared the heck out of me. Customer standing there watching. Lucky I was able to play it off and make it seem like it was all a part of the plan.

It sounds, to me, like you altered some of the ETC tables out of the range of the TAC module and ultimately fried the pcm. Thats just an educated guess though...
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Something up with the ETC params. I can fix the PCM at least, but need to have the PCM in hand to fix it.

Go back to stock on the ETC stuff. Compare what you have vs what is stock.

Did you try recovery mode? Or does HPT support it (sorry I don't have my other computer to look at right now)?

You might be able recover. But if the bootloader is gone, then not much you can do be send it off to someone like me who can fix it and if possible, recover the data that is on it. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't, all depends on what point in the flashing process it happened.
