    1999 Vortec (R) Engines????

I am trying to decide if I should plop down the money for the suite but I can't find any detailed information on what I can do on my engines. I have a 1999 Suburban 1500 and 1999 2500 truck both with Vortec 5.7s (R vin).

One of my trucks has a ECM service number 16263494

What I am trying to find out is:

    1. What can I tune on these? ( I know a general question )

    2. Can I tune the fuel delivery and spark advance etc....

    3. Tune the transmission shift points, pressure and lockup?

    4. See sensors in real time to diagnose problems?

    5. Retask the ECM to control electric fans so I can get rid of the belt driven fan

Probably the biggest question. I have read I can upgrade my ECM to 411 but I need to know if I do that, does it mess up my ability to pass inspection here in Texas where they scan OBDs to pass the emissions (anyone in Texas to comment on this?). I am looking to tweak profiles and a few outputs (fans) but not disable any emissions items.

    Any info would be great!!!!

    Bill,

Thanks for the quick response. I can do that without changing my ECM?

    Right?????

Now is anyone can answer if there is any issue with ODB type inspections in Texas without changing the ECM

AND what if I change the ECM to a 411 series.

    Thanks again!!!

Correct, even with the stock pcm there are some 300 tables you are able to change with our software. The 0411 pcm has a few more tables and extended resolution.

Is this an OK thread/section of the forum to ask the question about ODB2 inspections and if writing changes (assuming to don't disable the emissions stuff) would "pass" the Texas inspection?

    Thank you!

I think the major hurdle would be using a newer vin in your older vehicle so our software functions properly.

So I would have to change my VIN inside the ECM to get the software to work?

I think that would definitely flag my emissions.........

That would be a deal killer.........

you would have to double check with them cuz putter newer stuff into older vechiles and itg passes is ussually ok. 411 will control fans
My setup is a 356ci with a 260/268 (212/218 at .050 lift) duration cam with aluminium corvette heads and flat top pistons running 11.3 comp. ratio. with tuned port injection and vortec crank pick up and dizzy running a 411 pcm and 60lb bosch injectors, 1.6 ratio roller rockers. For transmission its a 4l65e built with the monster in a box mega ss kit. All in a 92 chevy ext cab 4x4 pickup with a 98 cab now installed with a third door! running only e85
