    Relink Vats

Yes I did search and yes I found a lot of people having issues. I pulled a 408 from a 04 ccsb and sold the complete engine, trans, pcm, and harness to a guy. I then bought a low mileage 04 5.3 completely stock with everything together to replace it. How do I get the new pcm to work in the truck and not have anti theft come on. I see the relink vats thing in hpt but do I just license the new pcm and relink it for 2 credits or what is the procedure?

!!!!!Before beginning all DTC codes must be cleared.!!!!!

You don't even need to use HPT to relink the VATS.
    1. Try to start the truck....it will fail because of the VATS.
    2. Leave key in ON position until security light stops flashing (usually about 10 mins)
    3. Once light has stopped flashing, turn Key to OFF for 10 secs
    4. Attempt start. If truck starts, VATS is relearned. If not repeat 2-4 until truck starts. (usually fails twice then starts on third attempt)

Not sure about the trucks, but in the Vettes, that leaves the security light on.

No light (in the GEN III trucks at least, not sure about GEN IV) with VATS deleted.
