    c5 Corvette Stall Converters

Looking to move up to a higher stall from 2800 to 3400 Is there any tuning that can be done to make this launch better at the drag strip ... Thanks Dan

    2800 to 3400 stall

    Dan,
Do you think you will gain much by increasing the stall on your torque.
    I'm running a FTI 2800 on my C5 and have a best 60ft. 0f 1.60.
What kind of HP is your vette putting out?
I have pull all the TM out of my A4 with no problem with stock trans, That might help if you have not done that. I'm new to the HP tuner but i am trying to figer thing out. I do know that if i push it to 2000 at the tree I will break my M/T street Radials free. That is not helping my ET. I realy like my FTI and as a daily driver i don't know if i would like the 3400. Anyway if i can help let me know.
    Good luck

I have 3400 fuddle converter in my car with 3.42 gears. best 60' so far was a 1.52, stalling it to 2500rpm and then flooring it

going from a stock converter to that converter, I dropped .5 second in my ET (11.91 to 11.41) and picked up 2mph when i had 2.73 gears in it, going from a 1.84 60' down to a 1.60 and that was flashing it off the line, not stalling it up. hope that helps. As far as tuning goes, I had all TM removed, made the shift time faster and increased shift pressure

That is a big improvement. I droped .5 off my ET also with only the troque and the help of the M/T Street raidals. What tires are you running? with a 1.52 60 ft. you are leaving hard! How does the car drive on the road, Like from a dead stop going forward to right or left?
Did you change your gears at the same time you installed the converter?
Pulled all TM out of A4 also. Would like to know what your pressures are set at to compare to mine.

    98tadriver,
found your file#3 in another thread
Surprising how close two different tunes are so close. Some difference but not a lot. Would like to discuss the differences if you would like to check out my tune.

    Dan,
Check out thread by CoolAid @

    275 40 17 ET street radials here

car is great on the road ( I run toyo proxes tq drag radials on the street)
converter is nice and tight. drives almost like it has a stock converter in it.

still had 2.73 gears when i installed the 3400. best 60' was 1.60, I wouldve probably got into the high 1.5's and 11.30's but I got booted for going 11.41 without a rollbar

p.s. Im still pretty new to tuning. Trying to learn all about transmission tuning bc my car is having a weird 2-3 shift issue I hope its not a mechanical issue

    New to this myself,
Also got booted for under 11.49 with no roll cage. Not going to put a 5 point in my car!!!
Main reason to Purchase HP Tuner was to be able to race on the weekends and also start learning about the PCM side of things. I also have a 1977 vette that only i have tuned. But it is old school. you know timeing lights, vacuum gauges, dwell meters.
i have a race tune that i use at the track now "2001" that puts me running around 11.60 to 11.70. When i leave the track it takes about 1 min total to upload my street tune that puts me back into the 10s. just incase some kids wont to play. The race tune has 3 dig. pulled from timing and lowered the shift points by 600 RPM gets the job done. So i have a lot of fun at the track and not destroying things. it also runs consistent because i'am not balls to the wall.
Anyway i attached my street tune to last e-mail for you to look at. My transmission has no problems with the way it is set up. you might wont to try it. The only thing i have going on that i would like to correct is when on the street letting off on the gas some times it will start to hunt. not all the time but now and again. after installing a wide band i will go after that. I think it is running a little fat.
Thanks for the reply and hope to hear from you after you compare the tunes.

By the way Oct. 3rd in Gulf Port Mississippi is Cruzing the coast. I will be there.
