Thread: Setting up Wide Band Config

    Setting up Wide Band Config

Alright, I'm a bit lost right now so bear with me.

I have a '98 Cavalier 2.4L and I'm setting up my wideband to log into HP Tuners through my EGR position sensor. I've created a custom PID for the Wideband AFR and the AFR Error. I'm just stuck on a couple things, how do I find the PID number for the EGR position sensor? I've been digging through HPT for a while now and I can't find anything. I went out to my car to try to log a bit and see if it would give me a number but the VCM Scanner doesn't seem to want to connect when the car doesn't have an engine in it.

The other question I have has to do with creating Histograms. I've created an actual AFR and an AFR Error histogram, but the how to I followed is for a car with a MAF sensor, which specified to use the PrimaryVE vs. RPM vs. MAP table, that has units of kPa on the X header, and rpm on the Y header. When I click to add a table I don't have an option with Primary VE, the only thing I can find that has the right units is Main Spark vs. MAP vs. RPM. Is this the right table?

The how to also said to make a MAF vs. Output frequency histogram with the AFR Error PID. Obviously I don't have a MAF so how would I go about making this Histogram?

This is the thread I've been following to set everything up.

I attached my .cfg file for you to take a look at as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when making a histogram where it says "filter" there will be a question mark icon right next to the lettering "filter" if you click that it will open a list of all the senors and pids with names and value nomenclature

Dont make tables when you dont have to. Just choose the table you want to tune in. IE Main VE Low RPM.

So in my wideband and WB Error histograms I would use the VE - Low RPM Single Fire instead of PrimaryVE vs. RPM vs. MAP right?

I just wanna make sure I have this right.

Yes, you would also make one for VE - High RPM, VE - Idle, and VE - coast down.

Gotcha, and then I can change tables and work on those as well. Makes sense now. Thank you Leafy.

Just a hint before you get there. I would make a custom pid that adds LTFT and STFT and use it exclusively for the idle and coast down tuning, and use it with the Low rpm too. But when you are above your PE enable throttle position use the wideband based histogram.

Are you boosted? Got a couple tricks for that too.

Nope, just tuning for W41 cams in an LD9.

I think I can remember reading about that on the VE tuning how to on JBO, I've been meaning to make that PID.

Oh yeah, nother tip for J-bodies with hp tuners. Use PIDs and not Sensors, the sensors often dont work right.

I must have been thinking about threads on here.

    And good to know.
