    Using a different pcm?

I wanted to get a back up pcm form the wreckers but I can't find one that matches my os id. According to HPT's V6 supported os's its the only one for 2000 regals but on car-parts.com they have 3 os's to choose from and none are the one I have. I went to the wreckers today and their computer doesn't bring up my number either.

Can I use a diferent one and write my file to it or does that not work? My vcm os id is 12201797.

I would try calling spare ecm and get one programmed to your vin number.

All gm v6 computers are the same from 98-03 except for 4.3. You can get the computer out of anything, just have flash to your operating system.

that is not true the 04 impala SS supercharged program can only be loaded on to a 12583827 which is also found in a 3400 cars 2000-2005

so if this was true i would have been able to load it to my 16236757 so the pcms are not the same.

just so you know the 12583827 will work for a regal its most V6 grand ams and minivans

    12209614
    12209624
    09380717

i can't find that number with GM is that the SERV. NO.
1 is a part number the other is a id number for programing

I have 2 spare 2000 pcms. I had unlocked my Hptuner for 2000 gtp's bc my buddy wanted to use it to get his 2000 turbo'd gtp dyno tuned. So i just unlocked the year. My car is actually a 2001 but i threw in a 2000 pcm and changed the VIN # and all is well. I have been using osid 09380717 for all mine. I dont see why that wouldnt work for u.

Well I got one from a 2000 GP. Unless I did something wrong I had to license the new pcm as well as the file I wanted to write to it. Either way the car runs fine but my radio no longer works. Any idea why?

The display shows nothing no matter what button I push. I just tried a vats relink but it didn't do anything.

If it was because of theft lock I believe it would display LOC, correct?

yes, loc should be dislplayed. Here is the diagnostic table for the radio in your car, I went through the wiring diagrams, it is not connected to the pcm. There is no mention of anything pcm related in the diagnostics. Did you pop the fuse?

I checked the fuse and it looked fine, I switched it anyways and the radio worked. Put the old fuse back in and it still works. I donno what happened, maybe it needed more time to relink than what I gave it? All is good now.

Its a computer and the secret of any tech support is the power switch. Turn it off, then back on and all is well......lol
