Well I certainly have no problem telling you why -
IT'S BECAUSE THERE'S BEEN A TRANSMISSION-KILLING BUG IN THE BETA EVER SINCE IT FIRST CAME OUT BUT FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON NOBODY AT HPT SEEMS TO CARE!!!
I've been a software developer for 23 years now and can speak firsthand that if I allowed the kind of crap software to be released like the beta has been (almost from the very first time it came out) I would have been fired a
LONG time ago. I know full well the purpose of a beta program is to try and work out bugs and test drive new features with the public's help but c'mon, let's get real shall we?
Rather than try to add all these stupid new features which nobody wants, how about getting what's already in there working properly? How about releasing a scanner that will actually allow you to start and stop recording more than once without having to restart it almost every time? How about fixing it so it doesn't say it's scanning while it just sits there doing absolutely nothing? How about you guys stop asking for VCM Suite Infologs to try and placate us when you never
ever do any followup on them?
Quite simply you should be ashamed of yourself as a company on the whole.
In regards to the Max Line Pressure table bug it can and has killed more than a few transmissions because the minute you change even a single value in that table it corrupts all the other stored values and can potentially end up sending too little line pressure in a given situation when what you really want is more.
Every single time a new beta comes out the
very first thing I do is check to see if they've fixed the bug but I eventually gave up because despite repeated e-mails to Bill regarding this issue I continued to get blown off over and over again.
Since they'll never tell you how to recreate the bug (or probably even admit it exists for that matter) send an e-mail to
[email protected] and I'll respond with the exact steps on how to recreate it.
If at all possible I would
strongly recommend against using the beta (which I steadfastly refuse to do) especially if you plan on making any changes to the line pressures because it really is not a question of if but when your transmission eventually blows up because of it.
