Get Credit Information Failed: Error F3

My buddy was using my cable last night and it worked no problem. Today, I hooked it up to my new laptop and attempted to pull the license/credit information off... It will pull the license info, but not the credit information and gives the above stated error. It will also not connect to a vehicle to scan, and the ERR light is lit up, regardless of whether it's powered from a vehicle or powered from the laptop.

Anybody had this issue? And if so, what'd you do to rectify it? I've e-mailed support a screen shot along with an infolog.

    New usb cable.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Picked up a cable from Staples with gold plugs. It was more than a $1. Probably over kill. Wish I new dollar store had them.
Plugged it in and it didnt work. No big, my cable was looking pretty beat up. So then I unplugged the cable off the MPVI, the one with the screws that hold it on and plugged it back in and it started working!
I haven't ever unplugged that one. Maybe it got a little dirty or something.
    Anyway its good for now!
    Thank you!
