    Tuning and Gm warranty

My 6.2 Silverado has loud engine knock[not carbon or piston slap] at
    12k miles.

I know tune/warranty has been kicked around alot.
I know they will probably check my calibration history and find that the truck has been tuned. They can deny me warranty based on that.

What is not clear from searches is whether I could change the Ecm to get around this.
I beleive the milage is logged in the Ecm so this may not an option.
Can anyone confirm the status of this option with up to date info.

Could I do a "read entire" on my current stock tune and a "write entire" to a new ecm to carry milage to a new ecm

    It's a 2010 Silverado

Pic is the tech2 screen the dealer is required to photo and send to Gm warranty people.
It doesn't log milage so warranty people may not see that ecm was changed.

    I'm curious about mileage also.
CVN on the OS is correct

    System should be 960E
    Diagnostics 4C87
    Engine Operation 6B64
    Speedo 3948
It will be obvious it has been altered.
You need to put a stock file back in it.

How do you mean "put the stock file back in it"
reloading the stock tune will still show calibration changes from day one would it not.

If I put the stock tune in, do a "read entire" copy and re-install with "write entire" to the same ecm, will this accomplish anything.
If I do a "write entire " to a new ecm will that get it done.

The screen shot from the Tech 2 you posted has the operating system #
at the top followed by the calibration module id #s at the right are the cvn
which are check sums if every thing is as the general programed it the cvn will match up. Put your stock file back in it and recheck it and see if it matches up with the numbers in the previous post. Although the tech2
does not label them see the pic for the names in order.

I see what you mean but my sreenshot was from a TSB, not my truck.
I'll see if I can find someone with a tech2..
    Waht does cvn stand for?

I'd still like to know if a 2nd ecm would work.

    CVN calibration verification number.
I read the TSB the picture you had came from and it leads me to belive
you will be fine it the cvn matches up. They may still be able to find it if
they look hard enough but that would probably take something making them
suspisuois. Make the truck stock before you take it in.

    hi,

if you put your VIN here:
    http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web
you can easily verify the calibration you should have with their ID.
I'm not 100% sure, but it's high probable that if you do a write entire of your stock tune all the numbers will match. with a tech2 and a printout from the link above, you can easily double check.

    bye!
