LS2 GTO in SD mode, want to use MAF to read airflow, how to ?

Hey there.. A friend has a GTO and it's been tuned nicely in SD. MAF is still connected, but it's been failed out (obviously).

In preparation/planning for work in the near future we want to read airflow for the motor and get an idea of the VE across the powerband. Is it possible to unfail the MAF enough to read the airflow, but not alter the tune in a negative way?

Just don't want to unfail the MAF and have something go wrong while we're full bore. Thanks for any input, been searching all day can't seem to find definitive answers.

im lazy,

so i log GMVE ontop of a VE (map/rpm) table. gets me close to go SD when coming from maf
