    Scanner Timing Advance Numbers Wrong

My Main Spark Timing Advance is reading anywhere from 6 to 10 degrees lower than what I have my Timing Advance Table set. It reads low on all areas of the Timing Advance Histogram display. I did a full write of my current tune this morning, and it made no difference. Any ideas?

It could just be a different table that is subtracting timing like the engine coolant table or air intake temp table.

I checked those---nothing in the temp range that will effect my timing.

While scanning, in my .08 and .12 columns in the Timing Table, every cell reads as much as 10 degrees less than what is set in my tune. This continues throughout the entire table in all columns. And my AFR correction is all set to 0, so it has no effect. This problem has only cropped up the in the last month. Previously everything scanned exactly as it was set in my tune.

Probably get better response if you post the tune and a scan/config

OK---Here is my Config and a short scan from today----Fuel Trims had just been reset the night before and have not had enough time to completely learn.
If you look at the High Octane Table in my Config, the April 1 Scan looks nothing like the Timing Values that I have set.

I had a shop check my timing with a GM scanner, and it reads exactly what I have the Timing set for in my tune. So why does my HP Tuners scanner read lower?

Figuring that my HPTuner files are corrupted, I uninstalled the files and attempted to download V2.22. After downloading, I get a message that I need netframework 2.0. I clicked on the shortcut and attempt to download the framework, and it won't work because it is X86. So I Google for a 64 bit version, attempt to download it, and it tells me that it is already installed on my computer!!!!! I knew it should be there because the first time I installed V2.22 on my computer, it worked perfectly. I am using Windows 7. Ready to give up.

Contact support for the newest BETA and that should fix the .net issue.

Any word on what may have been causing this problem? Could it have been using the low octane table for some reason?

Edit: Looked at your tune and scan, and the numbers seem to be pretty close (only a degree or two off). Since you're in the process of reinstalling, you probably can't go back and look at your scanner settings, but I bet there may have been something in the way the scanner view was set up that may have caused your discrepancy.

OK---Uninstalled old version of 2.22 ----downloaded new version of 2.22-----downloaded Easy MSI eidtor to delete framework 2.0 problem----installed 2.22 and it went smoothly. Went out to scan car----same old problem----Timing Table readings are not what my tune is set for----seems that .08 gm/cyl column is missing and that .12 gm/cyl column has replaced it---but numbers are not right.

    Looks fine to me

    For instance
    Frame 101-RPMS 1000-g/cyl .24-Timing 25*

Editor file shows 24.35 commanded timing in that cell.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Funny you should say that---if you look at my .08 column in my config, there is no timing value set for higher than 30---but I am getting readings of 35 up to 38. In my .12 column, I have timing values set for up to 48 and 49, which it never reaches in the scan. Weeks ago my scans almost perfectly matched my tune in my Timing Table.

Looks fine to me avg of 40-46* actual when commanded was at 41-49* in the .12 column. Obviously theres going to be some interpolation from the .16 & .08 columns.

OK--- this is getting even stranger----your screen shot looks nothing like what I get when I run the scan. In your screen shot a column of 17 appears under .80, and in mine it appears under .40. Its like I have several columns missing.

When I run the scan, it looks totally different than yours. Your screen shot looks like my screen looked like when it was working correctly---weeks ago.

Then you probably have a custom pid thats skewing your histogram cell.

I removed the Custom Pid for LTFT+STFT. Scanned again this afternoon and nothing has changed---Scan of Timing Advance Table looks nothing like my High Octane Timing Advance Table---which is the same as my Low Octane Table.

Here is another pic of High Octane Table----notice where the column of 17 falls in the scan and in the Table---different locations.

    Try this go to C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Documents\HP Tuners\VCM Scanner\Histograms\Custom

Select all files in the folder cut then and paste them to a folder you made on the desktop. Now open the scanner and run the scan. Adjust the histogram to work with your scan and see if it works.
