G8 tune. wont flash, says no TCM?

Im trying to flash tune an 08 G8 with the auto. It read the stock file, took my 2 credits, and I built a base tune. I tried to load it, but it says, "No TCM found-this vehicle must have TCM" So, WTF? Did it not really read the entire calibration? Thanks.

Correction: it says "Flash file requires TCM."

It's an auto thing. As stated, yank the battery cable or let it sit with the key off for about ten minutes. The TCM has to reset.

Yeah the last three trucks I've tuned did this. I was freaking out on the first one, after that it just became another step in the process. I now tune with a 10mm and a laptop.

I am tired of tuning with a 10mm. Time for a version that fixes this.

    EFIlive requires no 10mm.

Is this really a big issue guys? It should only do it on reading not writing and even at that it only does it on a handful of vehicles, if its doing it after writing to the pcm(tcm not resetting properly) let me know.

If pulling the tcm fuse or the battery for a few seconds is becoming too big of an issue send me an email and I can have our head engineer look into it further, if its happening on australian GM's we might be able to do some in vehicle testing to get it right.

Not a big deal. Only takes about 30-60 seconds for the car to time out, then try it again. Don't have to disconnect anything. Turn the key off, pull it out, open, close driver's door, wait 30 seconds or so, put the key back in. Works every time. Got it down to 60 seconds or less, no battery disconnect.

I wouldn't say its a big issue but it sure is annoying. If it's something that can be corrected then by all means!

I tried the waiting game as well but to no avail so I disconnected. It's happened on the last three vehicles in a row for me but I'm tuning much newer cars and trucks these days.

I got it to work, but only by disconnecting the battery. (after FINDING the battery!) Turning the key off didnt work for me. Not a big deal now that I know what its doing. Thank you for the help. I was able to squeak 17 hp out of it when finished.

If you or ANYONE is having to pull the battery after every flash I'd say thats an issue and you should contact support, I've only heard of issues after reading the pcm which you normally would only need to do once.

Almost every 2010 Camaro ive done (over 100) require a battery dissconect after a read or flash.

    Street tuning sucks.....

I have the same issue. No beta version has ever cured it. Letting the vehicle sit with the key off for a while is the only thing that works short of battery disconnect.

08-09 G8's use a different pcm then 2010+ Camaro's, different hardware so different issue.

This is the FIRST I've heard of ANYONE having to disconnect the battery after flashing a G8.

The Camaro flash thing is known but we aren't sure of a fix as we still haven't been able to figure out what the issue is.

Consider me the second time - my tuner ran into this on my G8. Pulled the TCM fuse, put it back in, fixed and was able to proceed w/o issue. Happened on a read when he was trying to save current config. He was using latest beta as of about three weeks ago if that helps. Let me know if you need more details and I'll run them down.

More info - I have a 09.5 G8 GT so this would be the E38 code merge w/ the G8 GXP (LS3) if I recall correctly.

The goofiness after a read has something to do with the TCM not resetting. As mentioned, just disconnect the battery, yank the fuse, or leave the key off for a while and it'll be fine.

Is it only an issue on Camaro's with an auto? I brought my 2010 SS home last night and haven't flashed it yet...it's an M6 car, so there should be no TCM right?

I've heard mixed results on the camaro hard start thing to be honest, some say they haven't had an issue while others say they have, not much rhyme or reason.
