    Wideband Through EGR

Hey guys. I cannot figure out how to properly calibrate my wideband to work through my EGR. I have tried every formula I can think of. I have a digital AEM wideband gauge, which has a range from 10 to 18 AFR. With the car off, but the ignition in the run position, it is outputting about 4.29-4.31 volts through the EGR input. Can anyone help me out?

Can you post a scan and your config file? You may have it right, a WB will give you the reading of the exhaust, even if the car is not runing. Left over gasses will remain in the exhaust for some time and show up in a scan of the car in the ON position. It will not show a "free air" reading while sitting in the bung.

That sounds about right. With the engine off it will be off the scale lean so at the upper end of the 5V.

Shouldn't it read 5 volts though? My gauge is displaying "---" when it's at 4.29 volts. I would think it would still show a number. What formula should I use? It shows 10-18 AFR on the gauge, but the manual says it has a range of 10 to 18.5.

Did you set the voltage offset in the scanner?

I can't get the right slope for the formula because no matter which one I use, it is accurate at some AFR's and way off at other ones.

    Are you using [PID.2811]/.5+8.5?
Did you connect to the solid brown wire, not the one with the stripe?
Did you unplug the EGR harness at the EGR so the signal is only coming from the WB sensor?

I tried the [pid.2811]/.5+10 formula. Not even close. My EGR is deleted.

Calibration screw is in the right setting I take it on the back of the digital gage?

I'll double check tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure.

Did you try 8.5 in place of that 10?

Maybe try this one I came accross:

    100*(([PID.2811]/.480287467)+8.5-[SENS.121])/[SENS.121]

[pid.2811]/.5+10 is technically correct but if you're seeing low 4V in open air instead of 5V I would reduce the offset. So since it's ~4.3V instead of 5V I would change the +10 to +9.3. What are you seeing with this formula?

5 liter is the guy that helped me set mine up a couple of years ago. I'd trust his input. So, that said, I am curious as to how you got the +10 for his WB when it actually has an 8.5 range for fuel when I looked his choice of WB up?

    It's got a minimum of 10 AFR. That's why it's +10. I'll try the volts/.5+9.3.

I found this thread while trying to do the same thing, it helped out a lot with explaining how to enter all the correct information(even though its for corvettes). Just read through all of it and you should be good to go.
